Why was Beason moved to the Outside?

Yea, I think Beason is a top LB for sure and people laugh when I say he's even a top 3.

I think it's a bit of a stretch to mention Derrick Brooks here with the type of player he was but Beason has potential to do some things for sure.

Why not trade for a LB?

People laugh when you say that? That's not really something that's funny, per se, and what do you do, walk around Tampa Bay sparking conversations about the best linebackers in the league? I'm pretty sure you could go to any message board of any team and not risk getting "laughed at" for saying a 2-time Pro Bowler is one of the best LBs in the league....

we kind of did in jamar williams but that didn't turn out so well...at least not yet anyway. davis is supposed to be back in november. not really any need to do much more at LB with the starters. connor does well enough in the middle.

I'm pretty sure Beason still has the green-dot helmet even though he's WLB.
yep. connor makes the pre-snap adjustments.

Connor has possibly been our best LB...If not he is easily the most reliable.

Anderson has been a highlight reel but also made the most mistakes and been taken advantage of. Beason has been a demon in the passing game but cant seem to make game changing plays.

Connor is so aggressive in getting to the ball carrier, its been a while since I have seen one of our LBs in the backfield so much. Its a shame Beason is getting 'overshadowed' but the only way to improve the starting three is to bring in Davis.

All three of our current starting linebackers -- Anderson, Connor and Beason -- have been playing lights out. If there's currently a strength on this team, they are it.

    • Are you now equating best/worst rush defense with best/worst defense? Those are separate things entirely. For rush defense, depending on how you quantify it, he has been largely in the bottom third of the league his entire career as a defensive coordinator.  As you can see, aside from his one year in Denver, he has never been above 20th in yardage. Now, there is context to consider which is most coordinators choose to run on him(24th-32nd ranked in his three year in Carolina). So, if you just simply look at Y/A, it has been a relatively mixed bag. Twice a top 15 defense but twice a bottom 15 defense.  The thing the should make all this good/bad run defense a lot clearer is the right most columns. Evero's defense has always prioritized pass defense and confusing QB's. That's the core of his defensive philosophy, as has been reported relatively widely. As much as there are ample personnel issues on that side of the ball(many of which he contributes to with his below average talent evaluations) his defenses may never be truly elite in rush and pass defense unless they are stocked with defensive talent. Like....his Denver defense that he inherited was. To that point, if you look at all those rankings from the three years Fangio(of whom Evero is a noted disciple) it shows a progression of getting steadily better into the far more elite defense it is now under Vance Joseph. As far as his HC interest, recall that he was a hot commodity after Denver and that cooled significantly after his first two years here. I suppose if you count getting interviews for HC positions as a benchmark for being a good coach(most would not) then he is middle of the packish.
