How will this board react to our win Sunday?

Yes, we will win. :)

I predict three ways.

1. RealDeal, CRA, Sylvania, P55, and PFFL will all continue their Bash Jimmy crusade and say, "I told you so!", after our close win over the...49ers.

2. Some people will mark out thinking this is the start to a Playoff run. They will start getting overly happy, making thread after thread on what we have to get right to keep on winning.

3. Doom and Gloomers will be their usual asinine selves, and remind us all that we only beat the 49ers.

Do you see any other reaction to our win Sunday?

I found a video of that old-ass Phil Hartman SNL clip with the sarcastic clapping family but the quality was horrible and the audio was super loud. I was going to post it and be an internet hero but now I'm stuck saying the following:

I will react like that old-ass Phil Hartman SNL sketch with the sarcastic clapping family.

This is the part I worry about. Jimmy never got to play a team like Tampa Bay, a bad Giants Defense and now the 49ers! He got Chicago's D, Cin's D (in the rain) and the Saints!

Either way, if we win, I will be happy; VERY HAPPY...But I don't look forward to some of those, don't agree all of them will, bragging on their boy Matt beating the...49ers.

IF I make any comment it will only be in return to something posted like this. So if you just keep quiet about Matt so will I. Can't speak for anyone else though.

Yet you make threads trying to spark more hate towards Jimmy with your "why didn't Jimmy" thread...no one has to post anything you created that BS thread all by yourself!

All you know how to do is bash Jimmy, I'm glad Matt is starting and I hope he does well, winning us a few games. More so than that, I hope he fails horribly just because of the crap you spew!

Just sayin.....

not a doom and gloomer but i will say that it was only one game and just the 49ers. still a step in the right direction.

it will take more than one win against a bad team to get me feeling very optimistic about this season, though, and i'll probably be spending more time looking towards the next year.

    • Too much to ask picking in the middle of the third round. Unless you are historically lucky. Hell you need luck in the 1st to get that.    The devaluation of the position is hard for me to understand when I look at the difference great MLBs have made to defenses over the years.  Defense needs a good QB too. MLB is the QB of the defense.
    • Across the league.  5 straight years of decline. Deep pass attempts have fallen to just 7.7 per game in 2024, down from that 2019 peak. Air yards per attempt are at 7.7 yards this year—the lowest in over a decade. Overall passing yards per game have tanked too, from 496 in 2020’s early weeks to a  403 in 2024.    This trend is a result of defenses playing with two-high safety schemes designed to prevent deep passes, forcing offenses to seek yards after the catch on shorter throws.  Two-high safety calls are everywhere now—up from 44% of dropbacks in 2019 to 63% in 2024—forcing QBs to take shorter throws instead of risking picks on bombs. Add in more presnap disguises, faster pass rushes (QB pressure up to 30.1% of dropbacks), and lighter, quicker D-linemen, and it’s a nightmare for deep shots.    Offenses have adapted with emphasizing power run games to counter deep coverage and fast but leaner pass rushers.  Rushing attempts per game are up to 27.9 per game average with top teams significantly in the 30+ attempts.  QBs are emphasizing more short and intermediate throws so that the few deep passes they attempt have a higher completion percentage overall than in years past.    So to everyone who is frustrated with lack of deep passing, it’s all cyclical and right now emphasis on the run and taking more calculated shots is the way to go.
