Yet there's little doubt that the Thomas Davis draft was to spy on Mike Vick, (he's turned into a quality LB, but that's why he was drafted and it was generally accepted as fact at the time).

No doubt Davis was hired for his potential as a Vick spy, but it's not like that was his only duty (as the original post seemed to be asserting of the Peppers/Garcia connection).

You could say we drafted Peppers to get after quarterbacks, of which Jeff Garcia is one.

I was simply stating if Garcia is not the Quarterback for the Bucs next year, then it will be easier for our defense, considering he was killing us ever since he got to Tampa, until the home game vs. the Bucs. But I am not gonna argue about this.

Then there are two problems with your statement.

First, it implies that Peppers' only job was to defend against Garcia, specifically, I'm assuming, his running capability.

Secondly, if we had been killed in the past by the Garcia-led Bucs with Peppers on the roster, what do you think is going to happen against them next year when he's gone?

The only positives of Peppers leaving is we can free up some cap space and devote that and draft picks to other positions. But we are not going to get a defensive end of his calibre anytime soon.
