'The Dark Knight Rises' will be without The Riddler

If done right, Scarface and the Ventriloquist could be a good choice. I'm not a fan of Catwoman in the films as the villain as she's technically not a true antagonist (she plays both sides of the law). Penguin? I'm just not sure how they'll fit him in to this version. Bane, Killer Croc, Zsasz, Maxie Zeus are all to flat to be big time villains in a film. Poison Ivy is a bit too comicy to be a major villain. Since Riddler is out of the picture, I'm at a loss as to who would make a good villain in this series. Hmm...

I would hope that they wouldn't recast the Joker and put him back into the series, although I think that was the original plan before Ledger's untimely and unfortunate death.

Robin should definitely stay out of this series. He takes the edge away from Batman and that would ruin this franchise.

Could bring Two Face back since his role was somewhat minimized in the last one.

He died at the end of the last one, so no.

Scarecrow is in Arkham, I expect, so he could come into play, but I don't see them making him a 3-time player. His role in the second was little more than trying to wrap up his storyline, methinks.

As far as bad guys for the new movie... For the lesser known names, I wouldn't mind seeing Black Mask, Deadshot or Hush.

The Penguin or Catwoman, if pulled off right, could be cool.

I am just thankful that so far the series has stayed away from the completely unbelievable villains with superhuman abilities.

Tom Hardy (might have seen him from Inception) is set to play a major role in the film. It has yet to be known if it is a good or evil role, though it seems to make sense he would play a villain. Im thinking Nolan either reconsidered the Penguin or he will play the Black Mask. Just my opinion.

Also as a side note they have started casting for a female role. They are looking for someone in their late 20s or early 30s. Catwoman?

I'm a Batman fanatic, so I typically know most of the updates. Maybe I should have posted this in Nerdvana... ha

Comic book movie. Death is never permanent.

(which is hokey, so I hope Nolan avoids it)

I didn't remember him dying. but then the movie was so dark I only watched it once (even though I own it on DVD).

Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Penguin has been circulating on the internet via fan sites and such since the last movie was still in theaters. It's a good idea, but not a novel concept. Nolan's Batmans have been about sort of surprising people, so I doubt they use PSH.

I read a rumor online that Tom Hardy is going to play Detective Harvey Bullock. Who knows?

And am I the only person who thinks the name they chose is ridiculous?
