blame the officers, not the soldiers

Wait....

They are professional football players, right? They need external motivation for what exactly?

everyone needs motivation.. a sense of purpose.. even if you make millions, we see it all around the league..

professional athletes are still human beings.. they aren't robots..

I get your point, but I don't think that mentality applies in a situation that looks as bad as this..

It's absolutely the coaching/managements fault.

You'd have to be nuts to pin this on the players.

The management of this team has been bad.

Our philosophy has always been to run the ball and stop the run.

This isn't a bad philosophy to have-if you have the personnel to match it.

We don't.

Let's look at some other teams in comparison, shall we?

The Pats have been the best managed team of the past decade, they've got multiple SB titles in the past 10 years, and they're still near the top-they're only now finally starting to enter their downfall (and they're still a respectable team while doing it)

How have they done this?

Adaptability. They coach based around the type of personnel they have, and to go with it, they've signed players who were adaptable.

Remember early in the Pat's "glory" years? They were a team with a philosophy very similar to our own. However, once they started losing those players, and gaining players that didn't fit their philosophy-they changed it. They weren't stuck in their way.

The thing is though, poor adaptability can be countered with good recruiting.

Look at the Colts.

They've always been Pass the Ball-Stop the Pass oriented, and they've been able to stay successful because they are able to draft and sign players that fit that philosophy (Having one of the best players of all time hasn't hurt either).

We haven't done these things, and now, it looks like, it's our turn to take our year in the suck.

The move marks the first in-season coaching change that Rams head coach Sean McVay has made in his nine seasons in Los Angeles. Rams assistant special teams coach Ben Kotwica will take over and become the lead special teams coach, a source told Schefter. The Rams, 11-4 and second place in the NFC West, lost to the Seahawks on Thursday night in a game that included a Seattle punt return for a touchdown and a missed 48-yard field goal by Los Angeles kicker Harrison Mevis. The Seahawks (12-3) overtook the Rams for first place in the division and the top overall record in the NFC thanks to the 38-37 overtime victory. Though the Rams have lost only four games this season, three have involved special teams miscues. In the Rams' first loss of the season, 33-26 to the Eagles, Los Angeles had its final two offensive possessions end with blocked kicks. In the Rams' Week 10 victory over the Saints, kicker Joshua Karty missed an extra point and a 39-yard field goal attempt. After the game, McVay said the Rams' special teams issues "can't continue like this." Los Angeles replaced long-snapper Alex Ward with Jake McQuaide and Karty with Mevis, who had not missed a kick until Thursday night in Seattle. Blackburn, 42, was in his third season as the Rams' special teams coordinator. A former linebacker for the Giants and Panthers, he also has worked as an assistant with Carolina and Tennessee.
    • It was a bad play from Icky but the OL didn't give up a sack until late in the 4th quarter and Bryce just stood there like he was canatonic. If our 3rd year number one overall pick can't overcome one single sack against a rebuilding Saints team that should only have 2 wins this season then it isn't ever going to happen   This is your quote. I mean I’ve quoted it twice. It was followed by calling people that defended him fugers and several other meltdowns I can also quote.    Shame you for working for a living??? Wow this is a whole new level to your victim mentality thing you like to do. You don’t have to watch games live. Or don’t spend an entire thread arguing about something you didn’t get the full picture of. I miss parts of games all the time. That’s just life. Not even going into the whole losing all respect thing.
    • Rams ended up firing ST coach and former Panthers coach Chase Blackburn after the loss. Sounds all too familiar.
