Change on Carolina Panthers' offense? Maybe not until 2011

Yeah, we know Gantt hates Foxy.. we hear you Darin.. but I refuse to believe that Fox limits Davidson's creativity somehow. Especially now that every win effectively 'builds Fox's resume', as Gantt put it on 730 a week or so ago.

Gantt defends him openly, but I think Davidson is a big part of the problem (along with QB/WR/OLine play..ok the whole damn offense.) and needs to go.

The conventional wisdom on here forever has been that Gantt was just a mouthpiece for the team. Now suddenly he's a hater?

You know, maybe he's just expressing his actual opinion :sosp:

 that is pretty funny. gantt gets a lot of criticism and he deserves quite a bit of it, esp. considering he's a prick. that said, people in here were constantly saying that he was a mouthpiece for the team and criticizing him for "defending" them and acting as, you said, a mouthpiece for the organization. not only that, but he does it acting like a arrogant douche which really pisses people off. then he starts interjecting his not so favorable opinion of fox and the QBs and all of the sudden he gets labeled as a hater.

i'm starting to like him less and less all the time. looking at his twitter pop up ticks me off and i'm really tired of his "try the veal" comments he makes. he's an annoying turd. only thing is, if you want to know whats going on with the team...he's more often than not going to be the first one to let people know. there are some nuggets in there but the unfortunate thing is you have to wade through a lot of manure to get it.

When Dan Henning was our OC, our offense had little spark or creativity, yet when he went to Miami, he became way more experimental. We run the exact same game plan now, only with less talent.

We've already lost this season, start trying something different. What's the worst that could happen, we lose? We got that down pat anyway. Overload the line with 2 TEs and everybody to the right of center except Gross, and keep running the ball off tackle. Let Armanti Edwards play QB for a bit. Our defense is not that bad, but they don't need to be on the feild 3/4 of a game.

No arguments here; and the last thing I am is a fan of John Fox. My point was that the author of the referenced article has been giving Davidson a pass for awhile now - both through Twit-land and on 730. Gantt doesn't like the Fox's Monday pressers could be recorded once - in the beginning of the year - and replayed. Does he scoop the team? Sure. About as much as any other beat writer in the area.

You believe one of two things: a) Davidson and Fox watch tape together and when Davidson suggests a certain play/offensive package that Fox doesn't like, he nixes it.. both in study and during the game. Or B) being a former DC, Fox largely leaves the offense up to his offensive coaching staff and - with few exceptions - Davidson is calling all the shots.

Of course, this is all IMHO. It's why I enjoy this forum. Good mix of opinions and interweb crazies.

That's what I'm saying- when Henning ran the offense, we bitched about the vanilla-ness. Yet Henning is gone and the vanilla remains. I think Fox plays way too conservative, which works great when you have a dominant run game. Now, not so much.

If another team stacks the box, call an audible for a quick slant or a smoke screen. Get Smitty one-on-one outside and see what happens. Maybe the other team stops stacking 8 men.

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
    • Well I guess he should stop playing football. This was his defining moment and chance to prove he was generational and he failed. What a waste of football life..
