Gruden...

Gruden was .500 or over in 8 out of 11 seasons, 5 seasons he went to the playoffs and won a superbowl. Fox was above .500 in 5 out of 8 seasons and has been to the playoffs 3 times.

Gruden is a winner, who cares about his coaching Philosophy. He can take young talented team and mold it into a winning team. I guess you guys have a personal rival against Gruden since he coached in the NFC South, kinda like a UNC fan rooting for Duke in a national championship game.

infinitely more.

See Tampa Bay late 90's.

Okay. In their best year 1999 they were ranked 3rd overall (267 yards), 2nd against the pass (180 yards) and 5th against the run (87 yards). They were giving up 15 points a game.

Their offense was scoring 17 points a game, 15th in rushing(111) and 30th in passing (154) time of possession was 32 minutes and their turnover ratio was -4.

So I have painted the best Tampa defensive scenario??

Lets look at their defense. They had Warren Sapp with 12 1/2 sacks, Ohanotu 6/12 sacks, Marcus Jones 7 sacks for starters. They also had John Lynch (2 Ints), Donnie Abraham (7 Ints), Derrick Brooks (4 Ints), Ronde Barber (2 Ints).

And the list goes on- Many of those guys were experienced and better than who we have at that point.

Our defense is 11 overall (315 yards), 5th pass (190), 25th run (125)

We are giving up 23 points a game.

Our offense is scoring 11 points a game (32nd), 244 yards total (32nd), rushing 26th- 90 yards, and passing 32nd (153 yards) Our time of possession is 27 minutes and out turnover ratio is -11.

Notables right now Johnson leads the sacks halfway through with 3 1/2, No one else on the line has more than 1. Anderson has 2 1/2. Interceptions are better Godrey has 4, Marshal 2, the rest 1 or 0.

A long way to show what? The difference is our defensive line and when Beason went to WLB, Connor is poor against the pass meaning we go to more Nickel which makes us weak against the run. Meeks defense with Tampa Bay's personnel of 1999 would be as good as Tampa's was even with an offense which is the worse in the league. Their line and safeties are worlds above us.

Plus if our offense was only as good as theirs we would still be much better on the defensive side.

    • I'm not saying it shouldn't be a part of his game it should be present yes. But expecting 500/10 in the rushing category is not sustainable IMO. All it's going to take is a defender to be willing to sacrifice a penalty or a fine to send a message just as the Falcons did with Sam Darnold. And even as big and durable as Cam was defenses eventually started to try to send a message to him too. We have to be realistic about not putting our QB at unnecessary risk. Especially given the fact we aren't even willing to run a QB sneak with him. We've also invested a good bit in our backfield that's what they're there for. And furthermore ultimately whatever QB  tier Bryce Young ends up landing in over the course of his career it is going to be defined by what he does as a passer not his rushing ability. That's all I'm saying.
