Is Otah's future a concern

But now there has to be some level of concern within the organization about Otah’s long-term availability after he couldn’t make it back from a routine arthroscopic knee operation in August.

But whenever big men begin to have problems with their knees it’s almost never a good sign. Otah hasn’t put on pads now since the middle of last December when he first tore the meniscus in his knee, which started the entire problem.

There’s also something else to consider and this could come into play when Otah’s next contract comes up in a couple of years. There’s at least a small faction of folks inside the organization who feel Otah gave up on the team this season and didn’t really push himself to get back as hard as he could have.

Contract coming up....bad season...owner intentionally tanking it for his peers high fives(as they sign their free agents)..

Listen to your agent..sit it out get the knee stronger than ever and pancake the guys when the new coach asks you to!!

Why would he not...in a regular year I would question the motives of players..not this one..with this team.

BS. he'll be back next season. if he misses time next season, then im concerned. he miss 4 games his rookie year and 3 in 2009. 25 out of 32. I dont care how routine the operation is, he waited too late to have it. He probably could have came back at some point this season, but why should he? To give up on him would be foolish. hes 24, and still has most of his career ahead of him.

This sounds worse than the knee part.

Perhaps, but as long as the people who believe that are not doctors, I don't put a lot of faith in their opinions. Trying to come back to early from an injury may look good to the organization, but if it was my knee, I would be cautious.

Of course, I would probably try to lose some weight. :)

So, you're good with allowing each player to decide when it benefits them to put forth effort. That would be an enormously difficult team to coach.

No, he's good with the player making sure that he's healthy when he returns. Why should Otah attempt to come back this season only to increase the risk of pulling a Thomas Davis and re-injuring his knee? If it's not ready then it's not ready. Even Coach Fox is smart enough to realize this.

You should re-read his post because that's not what it says. He stated that Otah should listen to an agent, not doctors, trainers, or coaches.

Otah's injury was no where near Davis's. I haven't heard anything to indicate that there was an effort to rush him back, only hope that he (and Davis) might return this year. They have now decided to give up on that hope.

I have said it before and I and I still think that it is a pretty high possibility, I believe that he may have contacted MRSA during the surgery.

Everyone is being so tight-lipped about the whole ordeal, other than that it is a "knee injury that won't heal". Sounds like MRSA to me.

If it is, I hope that he can recover.

It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this.       The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown.
