You want answers?

Little background before I get started.

I'm a psl holder, have been since 2004. Love going to the games, have enjoyed it every year, with this year being the exception. I've missed one game since 2004 (Pittsburgh season finale, I was in Hawaii). I, like all of you, am pissed beyond belief at this whole situation and everyone included.

I remember seeing a thread a while back where a guy said Jerry responded to a letter he wrote, so last thursday (when I heard St. Pierre was named the starter) I decided to write the Panthers. (I went to panthers.com and e-mailed thier contact us e-mail address). I expected to hear nothing, but I at least wanted someone to know how pissed off I am for spending my hard earned money on a worthless product. I wasn't ugly in my e-mail, I just wanted answers. I wanted someone to tell me that things will be better and that the moves were made for reasons beyond my knowledge.

I got an e-mail back on Friday that asked for my phone number in case they needed to call me. I gave it.

At 7:00 tonight, i recieved a call from a private number. I answered it and low and behold it was Jerry Richardson himself. He went on to read from a script about how cutting the old players was an ultimatum he gave John and Marty after 2008. He told me that if John and Marty couldn't have 2 consecutive winning seasons, then he was trimming the old and going in the direction of youth.

I asked him how he was feeling, and he said "I've got 13 more calls to make from letters like yours tonight"

I asked him if we would get a new coach, and who would it be? He answered "Fox's contract is up at the end of the year and we will look at it then"

I asked him about the CBA deal and he answered "it doesn't look good for football for 2011, we are miles apart with the players"

I asked him how tickets would work in the event of a lock out. He answered "YOu will be billed like usual, and then if there is a lock out your account will be credited or you can request a refund"

The only things i'm pissed off at myself for not asking are the following:

"Why did you fire your sons?"

"Are you planning to sell the team?"

I know some will say this isn't true, but i would urge you to try it. I would think that not being beligerent and throwing in the fact that you are a psl holder (even if you're not) would probably help you get a call back.

Don't really have much to say other than thanks for in the info.

I'm one who is constantly back and forth on who to blame and how I feel about Fox, Hurney, and Richardson. Regardless of whether or not this is just a PR stunt to save face and keep psl owners I think it shines a positive light on JR. I mean he's old, rich, had a heart transplant, and is a former player - he doesn't have anything to prove to anyone. The fact that he would agree to do this, if nothing else, shows that he cares. +1 for JR.

Thanks for the post. I especially appreciate this part.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
