Is picking up men/women an art form?

I had this discussion with a couple friends of mine, girls and guys, about whether "courting" (term used loosely) is an art form? Obviously some people are more successful than others at it, but is it art?

My thoughts on the matter are yes. I compared it to music. With enough practice and education, you can become very successful. If an inexperienced guitar player writes a song, it's still a song. If a some dude strikes out with a dumb pickup line, it's still a pickup line.

Some guys are more seasoned. Having practiced their charasmatic traits can yield great results. Things like being able to dance, knowing how to get women drunk without making them aware that you're doing it, cooking, smooth talk, etc. Those things make it an art form in my opinion.

Could be debated.

No it's not an art, it's a skill, like juggling or a golf swing. Yes it requires a tremendous amount of practice, a degree of innovation and some creativity, but no one is ever going to call it an art form.

...knowing how to get women drunk without making them aware that you're doing it...

creepy.

picking up men and women is pretty easy nowadays...

just drive to any Home Depot early in the morning, and look for the people standing around as if they are waiting for someone...

the airport could also be a good place

and the bus station downtown could definitely work

    • We have without question one of the worst QB rooms in the league and your key concern is people having the audacity to be talking about it lol.
    • I saw this list crossing the screen waiting for any Panther.  Chubba, JC Horn and Hunt.  It was a crime to see so many that were not as good as these three.  ESPN is garbage anyhow.
    • Bingo!  We are on the same page.  Our scouting department was average under Hurney, but at least we hit hit it out of the park with our first rounders.  Our scouting department under Tepper's reign with his revolving doors of HCs and GMs has sucked because the scouts largely stay in place.  One or two may change every few years, but the core philosophy stays in place and I believe that to be heavily RAS influenced.    Looking the part of a football player (physical/athletic measurables) vastly outweighs putting on the tape and deep diving into his stats with our scouting department. Until we change that mindset, this team is doomed. Again, how many of us Huddlers (none of us are professional scouts) wanted McConkey over Legette? Yet, we went with XL.  Why?  RAS score, pure and simple.  If you put on the tape and look at the numbers without taking RAS into account, McConkey was the clear choice.
