F "Happy Holidays"!

I'm sick and tired of people wishing me "Happy Holidays!"

"Welcome to ---------, Happy Holidays."

"Thank you for shopping at -----------, Happy Holidays!"

It's Christmas dammit! Followed by New Years! If you don't want to wish me a "Merry Christmas", you might as well say, "Go F yourself!"

If you want to wish me . "Merry Christmas, welcome to --------"

Or, Happy Hanukkah, welcome to -------------"

Or you walk into a Chinese restaurant and they say, "May a 1000 blessings be bestowed upon you."

I'm cool with that!

This "Happy Holidays" a-political crap, is for the birds! Even if you are agnostic, pagan, Jewish or whatever. You are getting time off from work because of a Christian Holiday! The celebration of the birth of the Christian savior, Jesus Christ!

Even though it's been proven that Jesus Christ was born in the Spring and not the Winter. That in order for Germanic people to more readily accept Christianity, they chose this date because middle Europeans already had a Winter celebration that included Santa Klaus.

If you don't want to wish me a "Merry Christmas" then don't say anything at all! This "Happy Holidays" crap, you can sit and spin on it!

Rant over. Carry on!

I'll say Merry Christmas on Christmas, it makes sense & I'll say happy holidays during the holiday season, it makes sense...but I never actually need to say these things to anyone other than friends & relatives...so whatevs and latresonthemenge ;)

I want to rant on how much I hate political correctness, but I think that was well summarized by JOAT raising the point that it's 3 holidays rolled into one period, so really, Happy Holidays is fine.

BUT! What I'm against is anyone telling anyone else to say anything. Store X tells their employees to say Y so you don't offend Z. That's bull shiz.

If you want to wish me a Merry Christmas, a Happy Chanukkah, a Happy Kwanza, or even a Happy Holidays, that's fine. And I will wish you a Merry Christmas in return (I am aware of the irony that I am in fact a staunch Athiest, but as a Pagan, I'm probably more in the right celebrating the commercialized sun-worship "Christmas" we all know and love...but that's another rant for another day).

What blessing you want to bestow on others is your decision alone, and no company policy should be a factor in that decision (But I'm against corporate spiel altogether after working at Macy's; "Hi, I'm Captroop. How may I provide you with excellent service today?").

    • Bryce has been in the NFL 3 years and still looks like a very mediocre QB. Most games are nothing but mediocre plays with a highlight reel every now and then.  He is a very INCONSISTENT QB and it’s very fustrating. He does not deserve a 5th year option, even though the Panthers and all the dumb asses in the front office will give it to him.
    • I’ve rarely ever been more sure of anything than losing out — but how can anyone say with a straight face “Bryce hasn’t improved, but Canales has and he’s masks his flaws”. You have to be so out of touch with reality to put one way above the other when discussing those two.
    • Last night was the classic example of a visiting team just holding on through the wave of emotion a home team has at the start of a big time game. Bama’s first two kickoff returns really set them back as far as playcalling and allowed OU to dictate field position. The emotion of the home crowd fed into what OU was doing at that point, and it felt like Bama would not be able to overcome that.     Once the kickoff returner was told to fair catch every kick, the game shifted, as Bama wasn’t starting each drive inside their own 15. It was then that Bama was able to make some plays, outscoring OU 34-7 the rest of the way.  I think the last 3/4 of the game proves Bama was the better team. OU was just able to ride the initial wave of emotion to a big lead, but Bama held on just enough.  However, had OU blocked the punt on Bama’s second drive and scored a TD (vice a FG on the ensuing drive), things likely would have been different.  Anyway, Roll Tide!
