We will win today!

So here is an opportunity for all you bean counters to start figuring out how this will impact our opportunity to get the first pick.

Stewart will show you why he is still a beast! Smitty will have a Smitty type game! Clausen will have a break-out game (as far as Clausen goes), and our young receiving corps will give you pause...making you believe that we may have one of the best young WR corps with a tremendous amount of upside.

And, oh yeah, our defense will get at least one interception today---if not two.

Take it to the bank!

I agree with everything but Smitty having a huge game... for some reason I just dont see it happening. Maybe Gettis of LaFell.

I said this in another thread too but I have a good feeling that if Gamble plays, he's gonna have a HUGE game.

Take THAT to the bank.

We can afford to win 1 more game. Cincy owns our tie breaker. We beat Buffalo in strength of schedule. and i think the Lions will win one more game. We could win now, or win against Backups in the last game of the season, but not both. That would be asking too much of bad teams. other than that we're a virtual lock for Top 5 if not top 3, and the Lions won't pick a QB. So we just have to make sure we suck more than Buffalo and Cincy, seeing as they're the only 2 teams who'll need a QB.

Seamonk's Guide to Losing (From the Perspective of Teams against Us)

Buffalo ( 2 - 9 )

*2009 SOS of previous season: .500

Own TieBreaker: Y/N

Remaining Schedule:

@MIN (Losing by a lot currently)

CLE

@MIA

NE

@NYJ

Cincinatti ( 2 - 9 )

*2009 SOS of previous season: .539

Own TieBreaker: Y/N

Remaining Schedule:

NO (Possible Comeback)

@PIT

CLE

SD

@BAL

Detroit ( 2 - 9 )

*2009 SOS of previous season: .508

TieBreaker: Y/N

Remaining Schedule:

CHI (Winning Currently, however they ARE the lions)

GB (their last game was close)

@TB

@MIA

MIN

Notes:

1. I put the Strength of Schedule for 2010 from last year's season (2009) which our current schedule is based on. Source

2. the SoS used is NOT that. It's the strength of schedule for 2010's season that we need. I just put the 2009 SoS to serve as a basis since the current season isn't completed yet. So far, we've lost against bad teams, so that should help us.

when referring to owning tiebreaker are you factoring future opponents current win % or only against teams they've played so far?

We've played Cincy and lost. therefore they own the tiebreaker. So in the event we finish the year with the same amount of wins, we'll get the higher pick since they beat us.

    • This is from 5 months ago. It was one or the other. Trade for one or draft one. We apparently called the Jets about Wilson. We also talked to the Seahawks about Metcalf. Drafting our own guy was the best course of action given the required investment. Regardless now is the time for Bryce Young to produce. We are fourth amongst all teams in cap spending on the OL. Back to back first round picks at WR and multiple young TE draft picks now. Very solid and respectable backfield. New pieces across the defense. The time is now.
    • That was just the worst time to have their worst game of the season. One key deal was the broncos guess the Panthers would NOT change any plays or flow to the game. Another key point overlook that bronco defense was truly one of the best in the NFL history. It was the best defense the Panthers faced that year, by far. They were not ready for it, but broncos were ready for the Panthers. Mix in that bad luck, poor refs showcase, and this is the golden boys last game........ Panthers needed to win by 20 and the broncos defense was not going to allow that.  Panthers were the faviotes and I believe they also thought that it was going to easier than them destorying NFC playoff teams as they marched to the SB. I've heard darin Gantt say the play calls were to give remmers help, but for some reason the team never did it. During the year they never had that problem, so maybe never practiced giving help via TE/RB, or WR chip. Cam was superman that year, no need for any adjustments...... Until you meet a legendary defense with studs at all levels, Think about it, Peyton was throwing wingless dunks for the whole season, the defense had to carry his corpse to the SB. That's how good they were, no many defense are able to get to the playoffs and win a SB without decent QB play. If you recall the beginning of that denfese took Tim Teblows and his non-throwing arse to the playoffs couple years before. That's insane the level of defense needed to overcome.
    • Who cares if he paid for such small benefits out of his own pocket? The NCAA is a joke. They need to be offering such anyway, especially for Uber rides (which actually seems like a good idea).
