I would expect Jimmy to start in 2011 and keep the job as long as he's effective. Eventually he would be traded for picks.

If that was to happen, hopefully he plays better then he has this year, because if he plays how he has played this year it will only hurt his trade value. You bring in Harbaugh as well let Luck start and let Harbaugh coach up Clausen to be an outstanding backup. If Luck was to be out for some games and Clausen comes in and plays well in his absence we could be looking at a Matt Schaub type situation (Falcons traded him for 2 2nds and swapped 1sts) or more recently Cassel. Thats why I like him so much the guy is simply one of the best QB coaches in the game. People forget the job he did with Josh Johnson in SD.

re: the cassel trade...you do realize that the pats only got a 2nd rounder for cassel AND vrabel together.

most we can hope for is someone sees something in clausen's 200:1 passes to TD ratio and will give us a late round pick. if luck comes here, there is no incentive to let clausen start another year. package him up and trade him to some desperate for a QB team. maybe we can get a 2nd. i'd be surprised, though. lots of things would have to happen for clausen to get anymore value than that.

It's difficult to say what would happen to Jimmy, but I don't think it's a lock that he would be traded. Honestly, it's still too early in his young career, and our O-line and coaching has been so suspect, that I don't believe that anyone can efficiently evaluate him. I don't even know that it would necessarily be smart to immediately unload him, regardless if we draft the next big thing, because of the draft bust factor. The only thing I can say with 100 percent certainty is that Clausen has been compromised.

I did know that I also know I would take a single 2nd in a heartbeat if we got Luck. And I never said to let him start I said that if Luck was to be out a couple of games and Clausen could come in and play well we could get that type of compensation. As it stands right now we would be lucky to get a 4th for Clausen.
