If Clausen were benched...

bruh, armanti edwards looked better off one pass than that piece of poo jimmy lmao.

I bet armanti would rush out of danger too so he's worth more than clausen.

Might he be better? Sure.

Can you tell much of anything based on one pass? Not really.

Halfbacks and receivers can sometimes complete one pass on a trick play.

At least Carr was productive as a Rookie. 1 TD on a busted coverage that wouldn't have even been that if Stewart continued to stumble.. It's Dwayne Jarrett all over again. If you're a running back, Receiver, or QB, and you can't get TDs.. you have no business starting. It already sucks when you can't get first downs and rely HEAVILY on YAC, it's another when the guys who you rely on to get that YAC don't believe in you.

I am not football expert, but I played college tennis and a handful of pro tourneys. Granted, tennis is obviously not football, but anyone that played in college or afterwards knows what I am talking about. You just can't explain the difference in power and speed once you go to college, then on to the pros. Reality is some players adjust better than others. Plenty of great qbs had bad rookie years. I am not sold on Clausen yet, but the jury is still out.

If you look at the history of the NFL, and I am not talking about just the past 5 years, very few rookie staring QBs have any success. Not saying Clausen is the answer, but how can you tell.

    • The aversion to tying up too much money in the ground game around when it’s what’s winning us games is crazy to me. I get letting Rico walk if you think he’s easily replaceable but I don’t see many people arguing that, just applying an arbitrary salary cap based on what we think RBs are currently worth. I’d rather be stuck with Hubbard as an overpaid backup (not the worst one to have, mind you) than lose out on the most productive player on the offense personally.
    • Why do people keep saying things like “it’s not Young’s fault we spent so much to draft him”? Who cares if it’s his fault?  Nobody is saying send him to jail or anything.  People aren’t talking about blame for the decision to draft him, they’re talking about how bad he is as a QB and how we’d be much better with even an average QB.  Pointing out that we sunk a lot of resources into drafting him isn’t invalidated because he didn’t make that decision himself. Doesn’t matter whose fault that was, he’s still not playing like a QB who was drafted at all, much less one that cost two firsts, two seconds and a #1 WR.
