My Earliest Exit in 15 Years

Anybodyhome

Yesterday was the earliest I've ever left a game and it was the most embarrassing game I've sat through (part of) since the Arizona playoff game. I was gone somewhere between Mike Goodson's TD and Clausen taking his 5th sack- well before the 3rd quarter was done. I actually drove the 2+ hours home and saw most of the second half of the Dolphins-Jets.

There was nothing enjoyable about being in that stadium yesterday, but it was nice to see the Falcon fans having a good time since they basically had the stadium to themselves. I can't even get upset with the stupid Falcon fans who act as though it's a huge accomplishment to beat a 1-12 team.

I usually give every game a couple days to settle, but this entire season has done the job on me. I will not be attending the Arizona game next week. I'll probably have a couple tickets up for sale for anyone interested in seeing the final home game of a Panthers team that will go down in history in 2010.

I'll probably offer up half of my tickets or more for next season when that comes up. Splitting the season's tickets is the best way to see a couple games a year without reminding me how bad of an investment the PSL was.

You guys are taking this season to seriously. It will be over soon and we have no where to go but up. The off season will be very interesting and serious changes will be made. Next year you will once again be glad you have the PSLs.

Or...we won't get better and we'll continue to flounder. Let's hold off on the "factual future optimism" until something actually happens.

I hear ya Anybodyhome..... yesterday was the first time ever I actually thought about staying home. My son had a basketball game, wife was gonna bring him and I tried all week to find somebody to go with me to the game. Everybody either had plans or just didnt want to go, so I was going to go with my 6 yr old daughter. She had been to games before but not in the kind of weather they were predicting. That being said, I was just gonna stay home, save my money from not paying for parking, food, etc. Well I couldnt do it  Was laying around the house in the AM, was about 11am and I had to go to the stadium..... so I suited up, got my daughter bundled up and off we went.

The only enjoyable part of the game was hanging with my daughter and she had still had fun. She loves going to the stadium. At about 5:30 min left in the 4th qtr I was ready to bail and she was like "no", "we are stayers", "we are not leaving till the clock says zero"..... I have taught her well :-)

That being said, I dont care anymore, no longer expect a win nor a good game so its easier to be there and just watch. I will be hanging on to my PSL for ever and look forward to when this franchise turns it around.

I'm sorry, I just can't get past this statement.

Neg rep for quitting on your team.. As long as the players are still out there trying I'll be cheering for em NO matter how bad we are.

Nope, you are sadly mistaken. I have invested thousands of dollars in the BOA building and the team. My name is on one of those Panther statues outside the gates. Just as Jerry leaves early or no-shows, so can I. So try "negative repping" Jerry since he's missed 10 times more games than I have....

Or doesn't my money work as well as his? Not the same or not as good?

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
