Is there anything Jimmy Clausen does right?

Awesomeness!!

In the games he's started he doesnt throw many ints.

I wouldn't say 5 INTS in 7 starts is good. It isn't horrific like we have seen but that isn't really good. He has 7 turnovers in his 7 starts. A turnover a game isn't protecting the ball...that is actually high considering the fact he isn't throwing much or downfield.

as much as i hated delhomme in his last 2 years here, he at least took shots downfield. it pains me to say it, but i'd rather have #17 under center than the pickle.

sure, too bad most of his shots down the field were game-losing interceptions. at best with Jake we are 4-12, and not only would we suck, we would still need to draft a QB, and wouldn't be able to draft Luck.

he still gets on that field Sunday after Sunday with the mess he has been dealt. A Coach that could give a poo, a make shift team to get through a lockout year, an oline that couldnt block if their lives depended on it and a receiving corp that cant get open during the 2 seconds of pass protection he is given, a QB coach that as far as I can tell should never be allowed to coach a young qb again. All of this on top of a booing crowd. Jimmy Clausen, I salute you.

Yeah because throwing a football around for millions of dollars= the grind.

Over a season it would give him around eleven or twelve. Id consider that good. Wasnt asked why or how it would happen. Now combined with the rest of his stats, it really doesnt matter. But I decided to nitpick.

going off only his starts.....over a season right now it would work out to roughly...

2 TDs, 11 INTs (16 total turnovers) for a checkdown QB. Seems high considering the type balls he is throwing.

Im not going off anything else (touchdowns, fumbles) but INT's. Regardless of why, it's pretty decent in a NFL season. However, It really doesnt matter getting into technicals, he's atroucious in pretty much every other aspect.

I seem to recall a thread like this about Delhomme last year, now it's about Clausen.

"At least Delhomme would throw downfield."

Next year it'll be is there anything Luck does right, and "at least Clausen would throw it away instead of throwing bushels of picks."

Such armchair QBs we have here. Haven't you realized whoever we have will be the worst QB in the league that year?

well I hope Jimmy gets really good then.....and Carolina runs every down. I still pull for W's. Luck isn't a guarantee. The only guarantee is I will waste the next 3 weekends watching Carolina play football and I prefer not to watch them get curbstomped.

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
