What do all these injures mean?

Lumps

and by injures I mean injuries.

1. Not everyone on IR is injured. The young guys are just getting their shot.

2. Players were not physically prepared well in the off season, incompetence (decisions like Davis just for ONE example).

3. Players are simply playing their heart's out and trying hard.

4. The somewhat hard to believe notion that all the injures are 100% valid and are keeping everyone out the game including an injuring that is taking 1+ year to heal.

All the injuries this year is due to one thing. Our coaching staff sucks. We have one of the worst coaching staffs when it comes to Training Camp and getting players ready for the regular season. I've been down to Spartenburg and its like watching a peewee football team practice. Its almost as if the staff is scared the players may get hurt so they dont work them enough. But the end result is that the players are not conditioned for the regular season and end up getting hurt anyways.

Don't agree with any of the lame posts so far. Guys going on IR very early in the season like Wright for example were stashed there because we didn't want to lose them to another team and didn't have a roster spot at the time.

Guys going on IR midway through the season like Williams and Otah were put there because we were not in the hunt at that point and needed to bring in guys at other positions due to injuries. It wasn't as if they were critical at that point and the decision was shut them down for next year with this being a lost year. It was going to take them several weeks to get up to speed anyway so their playing time would have been severely limited.

Guys going on IR like Jason Williams and Everette Brown are legitimate with an ACL tear or Elbow issues. Sure we could have held off on putting Brown there if we were in the playoff hunt but since we aren't no need to risk further injury.

To think that guys are going on IR to somehow make the team or Fox look better are stupid. Players on IR get paid to sit and we still have to find replacements and pay them. With as much as Richardson cut the budget and went cheap this year, to assume he would put players on IR and pay them for vanity reasons is beyond ridiculous.

Let me guess - you have been in charge of several NFL training camps and thus are familiar with what is required to get players ready for the season. I know it is a message board but there is way too much ridiculous speculation in some of these posts.

That goes against everything people have said about our training camp and preseason prep. We do more padded practices and 2 a days compared to most teams. Our training camp is considered more physical than many others. Guys who visit every training camp like Pat Kirwin or Tim Ryan are often inpressed with the physicality of our camp.

Don't know what you are watching????

At this point there isn't any incentive to keep playing players that are hurt for any reason. Why risk a more serious injury for a wasted season. 90% of this forum is pulling for us to lose every game so we can get the #1 pick, and now you are complaining that guys are going to IR. Pick a side and quit flip flopping.

    • I've liked him since his rookie year as a prospect, but when he's been asked to play in a large capacity, he has simply not done well.   He does not really add anything, rather muddies up the room.  Fant is TERRIBLE as a blocker, a pure receiving TE.   Let's just put Tremble aside since he's PUP (although I still like him as a TE2, but yeah he's not our future starter)... Sanders has already shown better receiving skills than a Fant and has a nice ceiling.  Not to mention, he's got in-line run blocking skills.  I really want to see what he's capable of this year.  Also has a year+ experience now in Canales' offense, not to mention legit chemistry with Bryce. And after Sanders, I also imagine our staff is waiting to see how Mitchell Evans looks in camp as he's got the in-line blocking skills.  If he looks fully capable of filling in behind Sanders, then I don't see a need.  Overall, keep an eye out on early August moves.  They are usually soft indicators of how staff's view their rookie late rounders and roster overall.  This is a wait and see what the market presents and how they think their unit looks in camp.
    • Every team has different needs of the backup QB.   On some teams a young hopeful makes sense and on others an old worn out dude makes sense.  We are a little more in the in-between IMO where you probably would prefer a Fields, Pickett, Howell type IMO.   So a young disappoint that you there is still some hail mary hope in.....given BY essentially was benched both seasons for performance (I know that's not the official line going into Seattle but I think most would agree he got a break and should of been benched later that year).  I know we want Bryce to be the week 17 guy all season this upcoming year.  But it's still in the reasonable thought process that the other dude could show back up.
    • I wouldn't mind it if they bring him in cheap for competition. I would imagine he would vie for the 3rd TE spot with the rookie.
