The Next Head Coach

Recommended Posts

I am currently adding Mike M. to my DO not want at all List along with Grimm and Fewell.

I don't get the hatred towards Grimm or Fewell. I get that Fewell is the coordinator of the Giants and Fox was too but to me that is the most retarded reason not to want Fewell because it is two complete different teams.

In regards to Grimm, I really don't find him to be a bad option despite the Cardinals' status. I think he could fix a few things on offense instead of hurting it, especially if he brings an excellent QB coach along with him.

Neither are my top choices, however, as Ron Rivera is on the top of my list. I think Rivera would be a solid pick based on our team's history of head coaches. Plus, he runs a pretty aggressive defense and if he brings a offensive guru from SD like John Ramsdale who has coached both Rivers and Brees

Well, i understand why no one wants Fewell. To me, he's less known as an NFL coach and i just dont think he's as good as some think. the Giants have talent on that line. I dont understand the hatred towards Grimm, but i understand why some dont want him. Grimm will be a FINE NFL head coach, but Panther fans want someone aggressive. I dont understand anyone wanting Mike Mularkey, i understand that he's doing good with Matt Ryan, but he didnt do much in Buffalo and i know that it's Buffalo, but i dont know, i worry about him. My top two choices for coaches (if we hire younger coaches) are Jim Harbaugh (Luck KNOWS his offense by heart) and Ron Rivera.

The key to the whole situation is Jim Harbaugh. What ever he does will more then likely determine who our coach will be. If he stays at Stanford Russ Grimm an Ron Rivera will be the main options, but if not Harbaugh will be in the mix.Because i seriously doubt we will go after somebody like Bill Cowher or Jon Gruden. Right Now i honestly believe he stays in college an if he stays luck will stay. Luck future is tied with harbaugh more then you will think. So the two Choices will be Russ Grimm an Ron Rivera and if you look at the offense, More then likely Grimm is the favorite hands down.

i agree on all points. I think whatever Harbaugh does will likely decide on what Luck does. If Harbaugh stays, i think Luck stays and if Luck stays, the pick should be either AJ Green or gamble on Jake Locker or go defense. As for who the coach would be, i think the coach would then be Russ Grimm or Brian Schottenheimer.

If Harbaugh thinks that Luck will be a very good NFL QB how could he pass up this opportunity? The Panthers will either get both of them, or neither of them. If Harbaugh is not the new HC, and stays at Stanford, then Luck is likely to stay as well. I think Harbaugh takes this job if offered, with Luck in the deal.

i hope it's not Perry Fewell, i just am not high on him as others are. i wouldnt mind Grimm, but i think (if Luck is our pick) they should get Harbaugh to ease the rookie in.

I'm not really liking any of those names except Harbaugh

btw if your dying to know what the third name is i think you can watch the show online at nfl.com and i think it was just past the halfway mark of the show

i am not dying to know honestly, we will find out eventually. i dont mind Grimm too much, but if we get Luck, we should get Harbaugh, i like his offensive mind best and i think he would be best here. we need a bigger name coach and while i like Grimm's potential, Harbaugh is a bigger name.

I'll pile on in agreement. If we do not get Harbaugh/Luck, then I would like to see us get either Rivera or Schottenheimer.

    • Right, so basically what I said in my first post about this last night. Tepper needs to use that big wallet of his in one of the few ways it can be used in the NFL given the cap.   Give Scourton a bigger signing bonus but not a fully guaranteed deal. Everyone wins in that scenario as if Scourton is smart and hires good money people, he'll take that bigger signing bonus and use it to make more money in the end over the next 4 years than if he just had his fully guaranteed deal and a smaller signing bonus.
    • It is all confusing and layered. SB is the cash you get very soon within weeks or in simple terms, its what you get to sign the paper work. Players and agents can agree on contract but what to "wait" to sign......teams don't like that cause you can "Carlos Boozer" yourself. In order to get that ink dry, while keeping the contract the same, portion it as a bonus to "sign" and get the funds with ________ .   * But Ive seen worded contracts that split the SB or a 20% to a later date. The beans counters can fill in the details about why certain dates are better and save the team money.. Theres tricks to the trade and accounting is full of them.    Ugh another big layer, is SB can be used to manipulate cap and players. Ill try to give a example that makes enough sense. Believe it or not having a owner like Tepper is a cheat code for this. He has cash in hand, where as Mark Davis had problem making pay roll and had to move the team to Vegas....... Tepper can give you 100,000,000 SB right now and the team can spread out the cap hit. Another owner doesn't have or want to give the player 100,000,000 in cash, but offered the same guaranteed contract in roster bonuses fully guaranteed over the next few years........ Which one do you want??? Everyone wants the money now, not before another inflation waves hits in 2 years. So it does 'pay" to have a owner like tepper that's able to have real cash on hand, while it also works GREAT for cap help. Heres a good video, if you can stand coked up pat and mask look-a-like AJ
