Fox's Departure Essentially Confirmed

The game changed a lot in the 9 years Fox was here.

He didn't.

He never quite grasped that a TE is important to an offense and never learned how to cover a TE on defense (that usually points to bad safety play or scheme which is suppose to be his forte).

He became one dimensional and predictable both on offense and defense. Want to know where the run play is going, watch were the TE lines up or how the FB leans.

Someone said it once, great coaches are innovators and changers. They see what they have from year to year and adapt.

That was not Fox. Fox was, '...this is what I do and regardless of what I have or who I play, this is what I'm doing....'

In the Lombardi days, that would have worked, not so now.

I wish John Fox and his family the very best. He is a, from every piece of evidence we have, a good man, a honorable man.

It is just simply time to move on.

Ive been ready to see him go for a while now.

That said, he is most definitely owed a "thank you" for the work he's done here. He got this team to it's first Super Bowl, and came close to going back more than once. No one can ever take that away.

It's time to move on, but I'll wish him well in whatever he does next.

I still think a run first team is important, and our new HC and OC need to know that. Lets go Steelers. They are going to be playing hard because they are in a tie with the Ravens.

It was time for Fox to go. He just has too much of a hand in things. I hate Davidson and Scherer, so I am hopefully that they are both going. I want a coach that will adapt on the fly and make corrections. Use the guys we have to the best of their ability.

I've been waiting for him to depart since the end of the 2005 season when Seattle embarrassed us in the NFCCG. I appreciate that he turned us around and took us to the Superbowl, but I will not be sad to see Fox go. Sayonara and all that Foxy... best of luck wherever you end up (unless you are playing the Panthers!).
