(By Joseph Person, [email protected]) After Carolina Panthers tailback Jonathan Stewart fumbled in the fourth quarter Sunday against Arizona, offensive coordinator Jeff Davidson went right back to him on the next possession.p/Stewart ripped off a 19-yard run on his next touch and had 48 yards on five carries on a drive that helped seal the Panthers' 19-12 victory. Though the Panthers didn't score, they took nearly four minutes off the clock and forced the Cardinals to use all of their timeouts.

Keep Dwill, trade Goodson. Both Stewart and Williams struggled earlier because the O-line's right side was terrible, as well as the playcalling. Now that the O-line is getting things together, Stewart is running free again. Imagine what Dwill would do with those holes, keep in mind he is faster than Stewart.

I think Stewart is actually faster than Williams. He ran a 4.48 with a bum toe during the combine.Williams hits top speed faster and is shiftier, but Stewart would probably win in race.

game speed is a lot different than combine speed. stewart gets caught from behind on his breakaways much more often than deangelo does.

I agree.

but Stewart ability to not go down imo makes up for that. He has got to be one of the toughest backs in the NFL to bring down once he gets rolling.

I remember him being caught from behind and not run down from an angle once, and that was when he tweaked his hamstring during the run. Williams 2 longest career runs didn't end in touchdowns. Stewart loses more speed than Williams does if he has to shift directions but I'd bet Stewart is faster straight away.

The fumble in Atlanta was B.S. That play should have been blown dead way before he fumbled. Forward momentum stopped and he was flipped on his back with the Falcons able to just claw at the ball. Also, any fumble that happens because you briefly blackout, aka New Orleans game, I can't really hold against someone. He does need to consistently wrap up the ball with both arms a bit more when he hits the line but his fumbling problem is nothing compared to many prominent RBs early career troubles.

yep you're right, Stewwy was a sprinter at Oregon. Dwill is quicker out of cuts and has a better cutback. Goodson is faster than both in a straight line

he ran a 4.34 at oregon...and i'm almost positive he wasn't healthy then either.

the only time stewart's been run down from behind was when he caught cramps in both legs (green bay) and when he ran for over 200 yards against the giants...jordan gross talked about how much pain he was in. he said you could hear stewart at the bottom of the piles screaming in agony...but then he would get right back up and run the next play.

on both runs he was at the goal line before being taken down. part of that is because stewart has a bad habit of slowing down going into the end zone.

any other time he's been caught, it's because the defender had the angle on him.

      Hawks said nah we good and sent him to the shadow realm aka the Wizards. Cold blooded. I mean they're 2-2 in a series with a young up and coming Knicks team largely through 34 year old CJ McCollum. Even if they ultimately lose the series at least they are there and have something to build on. I think Hornets fans are just beaten down and lack the objectivity to assess the situation. They think we are going to get so much worse if and when we finally change gears. Worse how? We've already been a lottery team for years now. We've already been looking to win our first playoff series in about a quarter century. We already can't get past the play in and in failing to do so we have completely embarrassed ourselves twice looking like we don't even belong. Honestly there is absolutely no excuse for a team like the Magic to be more competitive and successful than us in the playoffs. Absolutely disgusting. But that's just me. I was fuging lit when we got the Hornets back in Charlotte but that is old old news. It's time for these boys to get into a playoff series. Enough is enough. If they can't do it for 2026-27 then they need to make wholesale changes regardless.

      Not one single pick that is asking me why we drafted a guy in the first place. It was a guy we needed and/or a guy that had certain traits making them stand out. Best of all, I feel everyone we drafted are capable of stepping onto the field this year and have a meaningful role (even Kuwatch on special teams). Obviously, nothing is guaranteed but I'm not seeing any huge flags on guys because they're risky projects or massive overreaches.
