Absolutely. We'll be able to sign him for cheap. I'm sure he'd like nothing more than to come back to Carolina. A lot of the guys in the locker room would love to have him back. There'd be absolutely no question in anyone's mind about whether or not he should start (obviously not). He's a high character guy who I'm sure would thrive in the role of a veteran mentor. He could handle stepping in as a back-up if we needed him to, and he should retire a Panther. Bring the Ragin' Cajun back home.

We're going to bring a veteran in regardless. We can bring in some high-priced jackass like Hasselbeck or McNabb or Palmer, or we can bring Jake back. We'll have Jimmy and Luck so he won't have to play, but having him in the locker room for cheap is definitely a win-win.

on paper i like jake for that type of role - lots of experience in this system, great veteran leader, popular with teammakes - but on a practical level i just don't see it happening. we are at a crossroads in our history right now.

for as long as we can seem to remember we've had john fox as our head coach and jake delhomme as our quarterback. times have changed, and in two games fox will be gone. the veteran purge means we will have a new young team who can be molded into the type of team a new coach wants, through the draft, free agency, and gelling during camps/games.

sadly jake has no place in this. there's no room for him. the franchise has moved on, and signing jake would be a look backwards. we can't look back any more.

the thing that i am wondering guys...is..is a quarterback going to be the answer to the problems in carolina? Last year we thought that all problems would be solved through Jimmy Clausen, or alot of people did, and im not saying Jimmy Clausen is a lost cause. I think our problem can be solved by a defensive linemen or an offensive linemen. A normal qb has at least 3 seconds to get off a good pass...and when there is 3 defensive men in the back field in about 2 seconds...i dont really think that is the qbs fault....i dont believe luck is the answer to our problems

I dont know, I know all 3 aspects of our team will be addressed in the off season. I like the way Schwartz has come on, but we need to address the RT spot, and a backup C. I also think that a quality DT will be added via FA, and possibly through the draft as well. I think CB will be addressed via FA or the draft depending on staff selection. All of this is just what-if until we know what who/and what the staff will do.
