I still think he's a very good coach. It appears that all this came about because he wanted to be paid as an elite coach, and Richardson disagreed.

The high points could've been higher, but there was only one really low point - this one. Guy didn't forget to coach, and should have plenty of success. Time to go, though. Four games into this year, when it was clear we couldn't have a shot at being anything this year and he's not under contract.

I respect Fox and I do think he's one of the better coaches in the league...but I'm ready for something new. We need new life in this organization. And I don't want it to be another Defensive minded coach. I want an offensive guru...but I don't see that happening. With the best for Fox though. Just like Jake...time go go...but I don't wish anything bad unless we are playing against you.

2007 I was ready for a change. Didn't like how he handled the poor QB options. He could have done better. Didn't like how he handled the RB situation. From that season forward I think he struggled evaluating his own roster.

If you've done so, what was the tipping point?

If you haven't, what's kept you in his corner?

First let me say that I appreciate Fox for how he quickly turned this team around 9 years ago. He brought a tough, physical brand of football that became our trademark, and style produced a magical Super Bowl run two years in and victories in the playoffs. He also appears to be a nice guy and the player love playing for him.

With that said, the tipping point, if you will, for me was that 2008 playoff debacle of a loss to the Arizona Cardinals. To me, that game exposed some glaring weaknesses in Fox's coaching style - 1) a failure to game plan and make needed adjustments (allowing Warner and Fitzergerald to carve up our bend-don't-break defense, even without Anquan Boldin); and sticking with Delhomme despite evidence that he clearly wasn't getting it done (no excuse to leave a QB that turns the ball over 6 times).

I think to most of the fans and probably within the organization, that game spelled the beginning of the end of the Fox era. And like the majority of us, I can't until its over.

I've been sick of him for years now. He never had the guts to put a team away, always throttling back when he got a lead. Playing not to lose. His philosophy of just lining up and beating the guy across from you, rather than actually giving his players a schematic advantage. His unwillingness to adjust to his personnel. His loyalty to vets to the detriment of the team. I've just never felt like it was coaching that was a driving force when we were winning. I don't recall many games where I thought wow, we really out coached them. I do remember thinking the opposite many times.

I've always respected Fox's defenses because he always has them ready to play. His initial game plan for every game is usually pretty good but the man can't adjust to save his life. I lost faith in him when he took Moore out in the beginning of the year. It showed me that he didn't know what he was doing with the offense. He also never goes for the kill and has no balls usually.

I also lost faith in him against Arizona. He totally embarrassed the franchise with that game. This team had the talent to whoop the poo out of ARZ and Fox blew it all to hell. Granted that game was mostly Jake's fault, it was Fox who decided to start him and keep him in the game. And again last season Jake should have been benched much much earlier but Fox was stubborn. Fox expects his players to beat the other man and execute 100% every play. You can't expect that in today's NFL, you have to scheme. There are only a few players in the league capable of doing that, we are lucky to have a few like Beason, Smith, and for some time Peppers.

Him trying to blame the FO for this season is a crutch imo. He's gone 7-9 every other year. It was time for him to put and up or shut up and show he could coach.

OCs, replacing a bad Henney with Davidson

DCs, sticking with Turgo then replacing him with Meeks who apparently can't do the job per Zod's posts

Sticking with Foster while DWill languished on the bench.

"Oh, but he can't handle the blitz!"

Coach him up dumb ass.

Sticking with Jake when his mind followed his arm out the door.

Coaching passive aggresive, not to lose, never to dominate, 3 wins per 1/4 of the season is good, a punt is a good play, it is what it is.....

Been due to be gone for a long time.

      Either way there's some tough teams on the schedule this year, on paper anyways.

      Same. I would prefer a MNF game earlier in the season. As if more likely has some significance in case things go south this season. If we perform well enough we could even get another game forced to a Sunday night spot later in the season.

      Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.
