Herm decided he is not coming here...

Let Meeks bring in who he wants.. let him form his own staff who he feels comfortable with..

i doubt Meeks wuda been taken seriously as a DC with Herm barking the orders and be the most vocal guy on the coaching staff..

ie- Peppers being taken seriously as a captain :rolleyes5:

Exactly. Edwards is used to running things and being the center of attention. There is no way having him coaching the DB's wouldn't have cause problems, especially since he and Fox are such good friends.

Besides, Edwards will be great on TV.

As a former Eagles fan I followed Edwards career and thought alot of him as a player but as a coach not so much. When I read about his bend don't break philosophy I wondered how he could change so much from his playing days and why in the world did we want another DB coach espousing the passive weak zone coverage favored by Trgo/Lewis. Frankly I will like him a lot more as a analyst than I would as a coach. I am ecstatic we didn't get him as a coach.

I'm surprised anyone ever thought it was a possibility that Herm might come here and coach DBs. Him maybe being the defensive coordinator wasn't completely far fetched but going from head coach to a position coach is too much of a drop off for a high profile guy like Herm Edwards.

    • Assuming Mann is back I’d go ahead and move Green and the first rounder from PHX for a starting center. I prefer Okogie to Green anyway.
    • Been here since the Coliseum days. Hornets were the first pro team I ever rooted for. If they're ever going to get out of the gutter they have to establish a culture. They are trying to do that. I have no idea if it will be successful but it's a start.
    • I don’t think I'd go that far but there is definitely legitimate reason to ask how much he actually values winning and being great as a basketball player. He is very easily distracted with off the court stuff. This has been a public criticism of people like LeBron James with some of the newer generations of "stars". And it is 1000% valid and needed to be said. All I can say is I hope this is the year. If it is it will be apparent fairly early on. But I get the sense if the same themes continue as the upcoming season progresses the FO could look to move him before the trade deadline. It would suck for a multitude of reasons and I don't want to see it happen but if it did it would be on LaMelo and LaMelo alone because they've given him the keys and are finally putting pieces around him. If he wants to be a great basketball player and win he will be here and do what is necessary for the team to be successful. If not well....
