Trade the #1 pick

Man, I just watched a bunch of highlite videos of numerous college QB's. Luck, Locker, mallet, etc....

I've come to an opinion - just trade that #1 pick and garner some additional picks..... then draft TJ yates in the 3rd round and steal a solid QB.

His highlites look as impressive as any of the others - only difference is he didn't play for Stanford, Auburn, Alabama....etc high profile schools

He can make every kind of throw - and he can scramble when necessary. He's cool under pressure and has a short memory when things go bad (in other words he doesn't cry over spilt milk).

Trade that #1 for additional picks and get a good QB without financing the farm.

highlites start at 1:08

God, I pray that you are kidding.

Yates? That is beyond even comical.

He could be Jarmarcus in a couple of years. To say he could be better then Brady or Manning in a few years is just plain ignorant.

No, Jamarcus was billed as a top 10 pick coming out of college, Luck is a consensus Number 1 pick. Reggie Bush wasn't even billed as a surefire #1 pick (I know I for one knew he would be a bust or easily replaceable just like every other top 10 RB ever picked and felt that the texans were best suited going the Julius Peppers route we took when we showed them that you take the more surefire player over potential.). Luck is a lot different from other QB's he is a "surefire" hit, yes there is a chance for him to be a bust but he is being billed as an ELITE prospect. ELITE proespects rarely bust because normally all the best players and usually going number 1 are 5-star prospects, Luck is a star above and is an ELITE prospect.

You don't pass them up: Julius Peppers, Payton Manning, Calvin Johnson. Players billed as elite and we're hits in the top 3, whilst the 5-stars around them bust, David Carr (not nearly an elite prospect but a 5-star QB that a team in need, needed), Reggie Bush (You can make the argument he was ELITE but it was at running back.... when has a running back aside from barry sanders ever been ELITE when coming from college to the NFL?), Ryan Leaf (again a 5-star prospect with character concerns). Anyways, just realize that ELITE players aren't in every draft and this draft there is a chance for one being there (Luck). What did the Redskins do with their 9 draft picks they got from the Saints? They should have won 3 Super Bowls with that, they had trouble just making the playoffs.

I dont understand what everyone dislikes about trading down just a couple spots and picking up Newton. We would also get an extra late round pick probably.

Did you watch the game tonight?

If we passed on that guy and then had to watch him light up the league for the next ten years or more playing for someone else, I seriously doubt "but hey, at least we got an extra late round pick" would be much consolation.

No Jamarcus was a consensus #1 pick if you look it up. But you made a pretty good argument, the best I've seen. I just dont understand why people are making him an "elite" prospect after 1 year of throwing the ball. And the Redskins should have won Superbowls with all of those picks, thats what happens when you "think" guys are better then what they are, and you miss

Here is a scouting report on Russell

Position: Quarterback

School: LSU

Status: Junior

Height: 6-6

Weight: 260

40-Yard Dash: 4.85 (EST)

Positives:

With his huge size and purely gifted athleticism, Russell is a rare specimen at QB. He's bigger than most of the linebackers who will be blitzing him, and will be bigger than even some of the defensive ends trying to bring him down. Add that to the fact that he has a huge arm with good touch and that he plays faster than his timed speed (a rarity these days among QBs), and Russell is an exceptional prospect.

Negatives:

The biggest problem with Russell is that it seems at times as though he leaves his head at home and looks totally lost in some games. He tries to rely on his arm too much and will force a lot of balls into spots he shouldn't, which will probably create problems at the NFL level.

Overview:

The best QB prospect next to Brady Quinn, although he is a touch raw. If he lands on a team with good offensive and quarterback coaching... look out. Should be a top ten pick, if not top five, and is a lock for the top half of the first round at a minimum.

Doesn't sound like a lock for the number one pick to me.

go suck mallet and the sec off some more.... he just threw a game losing int to ohio state for crying out loud he blows. I think Ohio is biased to SEC players because of the raping they did to his team over the past couple years.

Must be hurt over losing to them so much.

31-26 :) Be jealous you idiot, I love it

Haters gonna hate. :ciappa:
