Clausen will develop into a fine qb next season.

Not really, the only difference between Freeman and Clausen their rookie years, was that Freeman was probably given permission to take a lot more chances down the field. Throwing it deep multiple times a game muddies up Freeman in the eyes of outside fans, as does Clausen's check downs. Especially when it comes to TDs, or in Clausen's case, a lack of.

Buc boards were going insane about Freeman , during his rookie year and the off season afterward. He was a child. After every interception, he seemed to have a poo eating grin on his face like "lol So What?".

lol,Clausen wasn't told not to take shots downfield. You could watch him look at them and then checkdown. We run a playaction offense. The routes and throws were there downfield for him.

Freeman was far more ready to play in the NFL than Clausen. People over-hyped how NFL-ready Clausen was just cause he played in a pro-style offense. The guy is STILL trying to play like he did at Notre Dame.

Clausen just stinks. Time to move on from him. He can compete to be a backup.

2009 freeman showed much greater ability to move the ball than 2010 clausen. 2009 freeman was plagued with interceptions but he still was able to move the ball. 2010 clausen... yeaah.

Clausen can improve I just don't want to go into next season relying on it.

Honestly, that's also why he didn't have many touchdowns either. He seemed afraid to take risks. Maybe a new coach can work that out of him though, but I kinda doubt it.
agreed.

you can't play scared. he made the Oline situation worse than what it was.

he did, but pass blocking was still terrible. I think some of it was likely on him but the number of times the Oline just seemed to ignore a blitz up the middle was... disturbing. almost like they were trying to get Pickles killed.

pass blocking always looks much worse when QBs make poor decisions.

when Clausen did get time (and he did), he was the same QB

agreed. also Olines have to have a good chemistry with the QB. clausen didn't have a good chemistry with anyone. they also have to respect him. not that they were trying to get him killed...they just weren't fighting for him. Olines play at a higher level for QBs they admire and respect.

Yup. Look at all the QBs that have come into the league lately...

Ryan has been able play and take chances and get better year after year.

Flacco has been limited at times and struggles when they handcuff him. Same with Sanchez

Bradford had a great start, but once teams got him on film, he started struggling but was still able to play and get better.

Clausen was given no shot and no chance, he was handcuffed all season and he sucked all season. Fox and Davidson didn't even try to work with him. He did prove he was not as NFL ready as so many people thought, but if he had a staff that had worked with him, I really believe we would have seen improvement in his rookie year.

I think some of that lack of respect came from Fox and Davidson. They had no faith or trust in him and that filtered down to the players.

I agree with this. Our next coaches will help determine how good he can be. I think Gruden would help him and our offense the most. I wont make any excuses for his play, but I will say that everyone sucked. Smitty had numerous dropped passes, our line blew and our running game never developed. Lack of chemistry held us back, that may or may not have had something to do with Clausen, we will never know for sure.
