JR Would Never Pick Cam Anyway

so why are we all wasting our breath? I am not a Cam fan because of his character issues mainly, but it really doesn't matter. JR will never take a player like Cam with all of his questionable character issues. I said the same thing when Vick was a free agent and half this board wanted him. JR is a family man and regardless of what you think about him there aren't many who question his integrity.

People are getting their hopes up for no reason. Here is another one for the Vince Young fans. JR will not get him either for the same reasons. Anyone that has kept up with the Panthers for any period of time cannot in good faith really believe either of these players are possibilities.

Vick was in prison though..had a list a mile long of character/moral/legal issues.

Cam Newton is as clean as Kasay compared to Vick. If Richardson doesn't want him, it will probably be because he talked it over with MH and both agreed that they wouldn't know how to develop him.

He doesn't have anymore character issues than Steve Smith did and he would put more butts in the seats, which would help JR's bottom line trememdously.

Smitty was a 1st rounder, Cam Newton is probably going in the 1st. If we take him, that's 1st overall, biiiiiiiiig difference. If you look at the history of our drafting, we take chances on character issues after the first round, but when all the money's on the line, we take take the saints man lol

^ This. Also, remember we don't have our HC yet. He could have a plan to develop Newton & might be able to convince JR to pick him up.

Wow you people place to much on "character." Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. This play it safe crap has been screwing us over for years its time to take a chance again. JR sounds like a man who had his heart broken by a girl 12 years ago. Oh she hurt me i'm never going to date again lol. Seriously lets put on our big boy pants and start drafting like the rest of the league. Bottomline do you want a role model or a good damn football player. I want to win some games and we can't do that with the boys and girls club of america!

And I agree with him. Newton is a thug that has had repeated issues. he is a friggin one hit wonder in college and someone is going to pay dearly for drafting him high.

I just hope someone is dumb enough to offer us a Hershel Walker type trade for the first overall pick.

    • If you're looking for a pat on the back it sounds good in theory until you realize they also had the 2023 Panthers as the top draft class.
    • Going into the 2003 and 2015 seasons we were supposed to be the joke of the league each time. In 2003, John Fox was supposed to still be in rebuild mode. We had a guy named Peppers on the defensive line who was supposed to be pretty good. We had Rodney Peete as our starting QB and a line that was a lot of hope and not much experience. Our new running back was a guy the Redskins, errrr Commanders, had jettisoned for being too old. We had a good kicker and writers thought that was needed because there were going to be more field goals than touch downs. Heck, it looked like they were right up until just before halftime of that first game when we had to yank Rodney Peete and put in some Cajun duded whose name couldn't be pronounced. And Steve Smith? He wasn't Smitty yet. Moose Muhammad, well, he was close to being written off as a bust. You know how that turned out. And then in 2015, we had Cam Newton, who was electrifying to watch but hadn't really won anything yet. There was an offensive line in front of him that looked like it was made in a defunct Swiss cheese factory and our big hope on offense was the great Kelvin Benjamin. And then he got taken out for the year with a knee injury in training camp. Ted "Feet of Lightning, Hands of Stone" Ginn became our default go to guy beside our next best hope, yeah, Devin Funchess. Our defense was pretty good, a scrappy bunch with frikkin' awesome linebacker play and a cornerback who had done more than drank the Kool-Aid, but had snorted the powder. He played like a superhero and became sort of a bat-man during the season. By the Super Bowl he had completely lost his freaking mind, though, and managed to talk his way out of a contract with the team next year. No one was expecting us to win the NFCSouth that season, much less almost go undefeated and into the Super Bowl. So, 2026? Who knows? But our best seasons came when no one had a reason to believe in us, except us.
    • it's not so much this personal vendetta against the Carolina Panthers as it is more about Bryce Young never not once been in the same conversation with the top 15 or even top 20 Qbs in the NFL ..just saying
