Broncos country message board comments on fox.

I'm not picking and choosing. These are the first 2 pages of comments. You finally get some negative on page 3

Amazing

This is the big name candidate we've been waiting for. It seems the search is in high gear.

He seems the most quaified out of the group. I wouldnt mind this at all as long as he can get a good OC.

I wouldnt be displeased with Fox at all. He is not my first choice but definitely on my list. I think he has been a part of bad QB play for years now, Delhomme hasnt been good for a long time and he was able to make it look a lot better than it was down there with great running back play and solid defense. I would be interested to here what he has to say.

THIS man, is our hope for 2011.

Out of all the coaches that are on our radar, he is the one i want.

I agree with most he has not had a QB in Carolina. He is a Defense guy that we need to help Wink if we decide to keep him.

John Fox is a very good candidate and I think this year in Carolina should not be held against him. He has alot of experience and can get good play out of his players.

With his experience, it should certainly held to balance out the inexperience of Elway and Xanders in their new roles.

Although, I certainly hope McCoy goes back to being a QB coach if he is retained. He flat out stinks on ice as a playcaller.

I wouldnt be mad over this hire at all.

Wouldn't be a bad way to start...living in SC I got to watch John Fox a lot...he's not that bad of a coach...he just had zero personnel power nor a GM who knew what he was doing. They didn't have to many good drafts in Carolina. I don't think Fox was allowed to be involved to heavily in the draft. But he did a great job with what he had.

He's out of the Chuck Knoll coaching tree. I'm sure he'd bring some toughness to the Broncos right away! Another thing is that his players love him. They'll do anything to bust their butts for him. He might not be the best X's and O's guy (though he's not that bad) but as long as he can surround himself with great X's and O's guys he'll be just fine!

Fox actually would fit well with a number of teams with Denver being one. In their heyday they were known as a great running team that were able to grind it out with Terrell Davis when it got cold and snowy in December. There defense known as the Orange Crush was dominant when they made their Suoer Bowl runs with Elway. With a good offensive coordinator and a veteran like Orton as the quarterback, they could be a force with Fox particularly considering their competition.

    • TBH, these are the kind of players that get weeded out of professional sports pretty quickly. Also, CMC is not that guy. There is zero indication that he isn't competitive.
    • I like the free agency. It actually helps basically all schools across the board. Pretty much only ancient HC's and/or HC's that haven't been able to adjust have been complaining about the free agency. Your fortunes can be made or broken every offseason. It's not like before where a bad recruiting class or two meant multiyear purgatory.  I will never understand all the bellyaching about the NIL. If you want to talk about what ruined college athletics, it has been naked greed. Conference expansions for TV revenue, ever skyrocketing AD and facilities costs and now the attempts to permanently ruin the postseasons(football and basketball).  All the kids did was get a very well deserved piece of a very, very, VERY broken pie.
    • Nobody is saying they don't count against the cap, because yes, they technically do count against the cap as it's money the team is paying and it needs to be accounted for. But what you're not grasping it seems is that if a player gets $10 million guaranteed in their contract, whether they get literally $0 as a signing bonus or $8 million as a signing bonus, it doesn't change the overall cap hit of the contract, because cap hits are about the guaranteed money, not how much is paid up front. The only thing that how much is paid up front changes, is how the cap hit can be spread out amongst the years. So yes, technically there could end up being a slightly bigger cap hit in year 3 and 4 due to a bigger signing bonus, but if that is the case, it also means there will be a lesser cap hit in years 1 and 2 than there would have been with a smaller bonus.  But over the length of the contract, the size of the signing bonus has literally zero affect on the overall cap hit of the contract, because THAT part of it is 100% about the guaranteed money and nothing else.
