Are we really that bad off at TE?

As for receiving, King can't stretch the field and isn't a receiving threat at all. He gets no separation from linebackers and no running after the catch.

Barnidge was a total non factor not making 1 catch all year. 0 yards

Rosario has 32 catches for 264 yards and 0TDs. 9.6 yards per catch

King had 19 catches for 121 yards and 2 TDs. 6.3 yards a catch

So we had a total of 51 catches for 385 yards out of our 3 TEs. That is 3 catches a game. Pretty pitiful but understandable when you are only throwing for 150 yards a game.

i think rivera would rather have a great TE in here rather than a "not that bad" TE.

unlike what many panther fans have grown accustomed to after so many years of mediocre football from the panthers, rivera might not want to settle with a mediocre TE just because he just happens to be here and was drafted by a coach who didn't think TE was all that important a position.

you guys shouldn't want to settle, either.

Dont understand why everyones so down on kingy. hes a better blocker and has decent hands adn hes only 27. rosario's too one deminsional in that he cant block and too slow to be a big time reciever threat. barnidge has good upside, makes some nice catches and is a good ST contributor. let rosario walk and find someone to compete in camp. owens is a free agent.

Rosario is plenty fast enough to be a big receiving threat. King on the other hand looks like he has 50lbs weights strapped to his legs when he's running down the field.

and how do I post threads?

You need to go ahead and post a bunch of BS and smarcastic answers to genuine questions. Also, if you have some lame-brained theories on how this team would be better, go ahead and post them too, especially if it has to do with Vick or Luck becoming our QB. Only after you have been properly chastised for your opinion and you properly fluff your post count to 101 you will get a super-keen badge that allows you to start threads...

I like to eat prime rib, sometimes tho I have to eat hamburger. Coach's long term plan might be a stud Tight end; however he might have to just use some that are serviceable until that one in a million comes around. Same can be said for alot of the players. Lastly we may have tons of underutilized talent, lets see what happens when an energetic coach excites the players.

I think the panthers will be ok with salary cap, but i don't expect to be able to get FA all pros at every position. It would be nice tho.

Rayzor I usely agree with you but when a player we all respect like Moose says "that he feels the TE Rivera is looking for is on the roster". I have 2 look at the guys we have differently. Dante has shown Flashes and Gary really has had a shot because he's not a great blocker like King is. Moose said at practice these dudes would make plays and then game time would get little 2 no looks at all.

Gary is really fast and can get down the middle and we all seen Dante make some great catches. I can't wait 2 see what the new OC will think about our TE situation.

I would believe that simply based on Rosario has shown flashes and we know Barnidge has the attributes..

    • Roger all that. Do you think BY avoided any sacks last game? This oline is not what you're touting them to be. They are much better then 2023! Much much much better than 2023. But come on now, you'd expect this expensive oline (most are run blocking specialist) to at least dominate in the run game every game.  And... I keep telling you our WRs and TEs are not that good yet. I mean last Sunday was a prime example. Our receiving targets never make plays like those. Never. And this is from one of the worst teams in the league. Shough could have easily had 3 INTs if not for his receivers making plays on the ball. Our guys just don't do that. XL almost allowed an INT backing up out of bounds instead of coming to the ball. And everyone would have blamed that on BY. That's why he doesn't throw to that dude. I can't recall a game except maybe the second Falcons game - maybe, where I thought our receivers could possibly be better than the other team's. I think TMac and Coker have a lot of potential. But they're aren't consistent. But they're young and WILL improve. I'm confident of that.  I don't agree that BY was drafted to only stand in the pocket. He has always been best off schedule - for better or worse.
    • Do you think you will get a direct answer?  Icky giving up 5 pressures (playing hurt in his defense) by himself and Bryce only getting sacked once tells you he played well in the pocket.  He extended plays and converted some tough downs.
    • I've been very apprehensive about potentially firing yet another head coach. But Canales needs to focus on being a head coach first and foremost and begin handing off some responsibilities like playcalling duties and begin overseeing the entire team or we need to assess all possible ideal HC candidates in the offseason.
