Correct me if I'm wrong. But if Jerry and the owners get their way and they get a bigger chunk of the pie Jerry drew during his press conference, shouldn't ticket prices be going down?

Oh well, who cares. I bought PSLs for the first time last season, so my prices never went up. They were what they were.

Tampa is doing it because they can't sell tickets and fill the stadium. They are doing it because they have to, not because they want to or care about the fans. Atlanta did the same thing post Vick.

JR doesn't have to since 90% of the tickets are PSLs whose owners have to buy season tickets or lose the PSLs. So he knows that he will have sellouts no matter what.

Obviously the didn't want to slash their prices. And I am not of the "JR is the cheapers" ilk. Just thought it was refreshing to see that owners are at least acknowledging who actually holds the purse strings in the NFL.

FYI they also are giving %10 off beer and concessions for all season ticket holders.

I think that they lose more money on blackouts then they lose by slashing ticket prices so it in their own best interest to sell out the stadium. In years past they could buy up the remaining tickets at a cut rate price but that has changed. So they still make more money by discounting prices rather than losing all local advertisers.

I figure when the Glazers discount prices as cheap as they are, the Bucs must be in a world of hurt right now.

Wow! Between this announcement and the letter I received several weeks back, I feel so much better now.

Sorry, Jerry. Already made up my mind to sell 4 regular season game tickets next season (if and when there is one). You may have got me with the PSLs, but that doesn't mean I have to be further tortured by showing up every home game.

Is this true? I've wondered about it and never gotten a decent answer.

I don't know that JR loses or profits either way directly if there is a blackout. I would think the local TV stations would.

But I don't know

Renouncing your PSLs makes Jerry MORE money as they're worth WAY more now than they originally sold for. Anyone turning them back in is crazy - should just sell for whatever they can get for them as to not let JR resell them for huge increases (whether now or in a couple years).

Worth versus what you'll get for them are far different in the world of Panther PSLs. A friend of mine sold his 3 a couple years ago and was extremely pissed that he paid more for his PSLs in '95 from the team during the initial offering than the team was selling them for in 2008.

Through the team, not a broker mind you. He paid $2k more for each PSL than the team was listing them for on the Panthers website. The Panthers actually repriced a lot of PSL sections by raising some PSL prices, lowering others and some they did nothing with.

In this economy I wouldn't even try to sell my PSLs. They simply are not worth anything when the team is not successful. If they were consistently winning it would still require a pretty decent economy to sell them. 90% of the stadium is filled with PSL tickets, but the owners are at home or elsewhere while whoever bought that day's tickets are in the stadium.

There is no return on investment in the PSLs. The team is horrible which makes selling them for a profit impossible. And selling the individual game tickets is only recovering a small portion of your seasonal ticket expenditure as well.

Panthers PSLs- the proverbial albatross. Or, the gift that keeps on costing....

In related news, I won't be raising my anger level toward Mr. Richardson for next season. It will remain at the dangerously high level of last season, but within reason given the circumstances. My anger level is subject to change if the team starts winning again.

      You do, the guy who doesn’t appear to grasp projection.  as the entire board knows, I do in fact, take positions.  The position here I have taken is that Bryce Young is a weak bottom tier starting QB, without NFL starting QB tools, that we must move on from.

      The OP for one. Asserting that people blamed Bryce for the loss in the title of the thread. That was not the prevailing sentiment at the time this thread was created. Very much a minority thing, I don’t remember but maybe one person if that, putting it on Bryce as the main reason. Troll thread. Did a good job too. Look at the pages.  Someone counting up the draft picks as 10 on offense and 10 on defense or whatever the number was, today or yesterday - of which the offensive ones were heavily 1s and 2s and the defensive picks were heavily day 3 and declaring that proof that the offense wasn’t favored like people claim. The obvious neglect we watched for two years. I spent time refuting that bullshit because someone needed to.  People saying we are bad horrible people and hate poor lil Bryce for no reason, as if it is a personal thing. Constantly.   Along the same lines is people saying we non Bryce fans would rather lose than have him play well and the team wins. That we are mad when the team wins   Point illustrated.
