f**k the owners and their greed

The owners? What about the players and their contracts? Cops, fireman, teachers etc work for 50k a year, people play football for upwards of 15 to 19million a year. Does no one think the salaries are out of kilter? Its a privileged to play football, they could be working construction somewhere.

the owners don't want to slash player salaries by 18% to give the money to teachers.

I really don't give a fug what a rich ass player or a rich ass owner gets as long as they play football. Kids from 5 to 22 play the fugin game for free, boo hoo hoo, rich player didnt get to add in the extra 60 x 60 foot pool he wanted to this season because he lost 500k off his salary. But its ok, he will make it back up while the NFL continues to expand about 10 times more than the national economy. Give me a break.

In this economy, I doubt it. I got laid off from mine.

Fact is these players are about to kill the goose that laid the golden eggs. If there is no Football who gets hurt more the Billionaires who have plenty of money and most have huge companies backing them. Or the players that would mostly be working some minimum wage job. I'm sure the owners wouldn't be thrilled but they can weather the storm easily most players can not.

Hope this is true. I would hate for there not to be any football. I wouldn't mind it that much to see a scrub league at least they want be a bunch of spoiled little bi$@#es.

There probably isn't a single player in the league who would quit playing in the NFL if their pay was reduced 18%. They might piss and moan and plea poverty but they would still stick around because they have no other option. What does the average college dropout with no job skills (most NFL players have never done anything except play football) earn these days? I would assume it is a great deal less than the NFL minimum. Since that is the case, why should the owners agree to a deal where they pay them more than they are all willing to play for?

I am with you, got let go in September because I couldn't make it back to work when my company wanted me too after Knee surgery. Gee my doc wouldn't sign off on me pushing up to 350lbs 6 weeks after getting my knee done...wonder why?

Think I give a rats ass some homey can't keep his crew in money or afford the mortgage on his 5 houses, 18 cars, bling payments etc? F*ck them!!!

The owners of NFL teams built other businesses that made them Billionares with hard work BEFORE becoming owners for the most part. Hell RJ played when they were lucky to get 30k per year in the NFL but went into business and became rich that way. You think JR a former player gives a rats ass about someone getting his 10 mill per year to play a damn game?

'But the NFL makes so much, we need more'. bull poo! I don't see the top developers for Microsoft whining to the media needing millions more per year. Billy Gates would poo can them and take the next guy in line. That is EXACTLY what we need to do. Punt kick them and start over with the guys in college that are there for the love of the game and give them a chance to make a few hundred thousand to a couple mill per year. I bet your ass we end up with better football on the field!

Doctors, Lawyers and Architects work 4-8 years in graduate school to earn their creditials. Meaning the only thing that separates many of us from being a doctor, lawyer or architect is 4-8 more years of school, yet I know very few people who would argue that they deserve their salary due to the work that they put in to obtain their creditials. I understand that being a doctor, lawyer and architect is not easy and competition is tough and that's why we respect those positions and believe they have earned their salaries.

So, think of this. NFL players start training from age 6. They work 14 years to reach the NFL. 1 out of 5 kids make their highschool football team in most FL schools and of those that make it a third of those drop football after their freshman year. Only 1-5 players on a FL highschool football team play college ball, meaning only 1-6% of the highschool players play college ball. Only 1 out of 1000 college players make it to the NFL. So, if you are talented enough to make it, lucky enough to survive injury and smart enough to keep yourself out of trouble on the way, then you may become an NFL player, its as though the perfect storm must take place. If you have 100,000 6 year old football players, only 1 of them will make it to the NFL.

The NFL revenues are enormous. We watch the NFL to see the players and coaches perform and win. I have never turned on the TV and wanted to watch an NFL owner do anything other than spend money on the best product on the market. It's their job to do this as an NFL owner. They owe this to the fans. I feel no compassion for an owner, because they knew what they were investing in when they invested.

Why is it people want to hold the NFL players salary against them? If you had a clue what it takes to become a player and had the skills to do it, then you would have done it. These guys deserve their salaries and to ask them to take an 18% pay cut and work 11% more per season, when the owners TV revenues are locked in is PURE greed by the owners.

If the CBA is forced through, then the players have no choice but to strike. It's the way it works.

it baffles me how anyone could consider the players the bad guy in this, when the owners are the ones who opted out of the CBA. the players are ready to play. they don't want to change anything. it's the owners making stupid fuging pie charts and mumbling about how they need to take 20% of players salaries for themselves. oh, and maybe another billion off the top.
