Peterson 1, then Marvin Austin in the 3rd.

I have been pounding on the QB thing all week but if we don't take one I would like to see Fairley at #1 but I won't cry if we take Peterson.

If Austin makes it to the third (which he really could) he would be a steal. He was the number 1 DT going into the season.

If they're going to keep Smith and don't want to try to get extra picks in this years draft by trading him after getting Green (assuming a CBA is done by then)....then the best move would be to pick Patrick Peterson. Way more FA DTs available than CBs to fill that hole.

I call BS. People have said the following. We need two DT's. DT then CB in the third. If we cant stop the run pass defense don't matter. There is not a WR in our division that needs a shut down corner.

First yeah we need two DT's but they don't have to be Fairley and whoever. There is gonna be talent in FA and at the top of the third at DT. Corner not so much. Second, how bout CB, then DT in the third. Thirdly, wow that is a word. Your wrong. Why do you think the JETS have went out of there way to acquire every corner talent they can? It's cause yes the trenches are important but so is the other facets of the game. Lastly did i miss something? Are we NOT in the same division as the freaking SAINTS, Roddy White, and Buccs Mike Williams. We need pass defense. Don't kid yourself thinking nick fairley is gonna manhandle NFL Olineman like college kids.

When you look at raw talent that can be coached into greatness i see Patrick Peterson and AJ Green not Nick and CAm.

umm theres no need for Peterson right now, theres not a WR in our division that requires a shut down corner to cover him, we need a DT, either Fairly or a Vet, kase klosed

Kase Klo-FAIL!

Roddy White

Colston-Henderson-Meacham-Moore

Mike Williams-Benn(2011?)

We do need A DT! But your post now has no meaning.

We have to shore up the DT position before drafting another CB at #1. You can have shut down corners....but if you have poo on the line your defense will get toasted.....see the Bengals.

At the time the Jets picked Revis they didn't need Dts or other pieces on their team. We can get by with the corners we have but not our DTs, plain and simple. Peterson would be a great luxury to draft and would surely be an upgrade. But as Madhatter said, even a shut down corner is only average or worse if the opposing offense has all day to throw the ball. Unless we can pressure on the QB, it doesn't matter how good our corners are.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
