We need to talk about Bowers more

I have been saying it all offseason the pick will probably be Bowers or Quinn with the edge right now going to Bowers. People forget the reason Hardy fell as far as he did he had an injury history. That could still become a problem and while I like him a rotation of CJ, Hardy, and Bowers is pretty sick. And don't forget CJ might not even be resigned (there is a hellous amount of FA we have to try and bring back) Fairley to me is just to big a concern both with his "dirty" play on the field and his questionable work ethic (going by what I have heard).

WR to me is a luxury because of how up in the air the QB position is and how well particularly Gettis looked last year. Peterson is not worth a #1 selection especially considering all we already have at CB. That leaves Bowers and depending on how well the combine goes for him Quinn.

Something might change between now and April but thats the way I see it now.

If we are going to go DE #1 then I woud think that Quinn is a better bet than Bowers. I know that he sat out for a year but the kid is relentless and is more than just a speed rusher. Since Quinn was out for the entire year then it would be stupid to take him #1, so I really hope they don't go with Bowers.

To add to that, a DE is really only as good as his DTs. Landri was able to get some pressure last year but teams started trapping him later in the year and he was very bad at identifying it, so I don't think that he is any type of answer like some on here do.

true and not true. DT's can definately make life easier for a DE and make an average DE slightly better. But our DTs were horrible this year....they didn't make Johnson as productive as he was. Guys like Brayton, Brown, need good DT play.

A guy like Bowers has the skill set where he doesn't need great DT play b/c he can do a little of everthing.

DE isn't all that much a position of need. read what brian baker said about them.

greg hardy and charles johnson is enough, esp. if we upgrade DT. add whatever depth is needed through FA or late in the draft.

Hardy played minimal reps and has injury issues....hard to pencil him in as a productive starter you can count on since he has never been one.
