For the Elite QB folks, something to ponder.

Who considers Ben an elite QB?

Is it the championships that makes Ben elite? Does that mean Marino was not elite?

Don't forget that Ben earned one of those rings while having the worst QB rating in the history of SB winning QB's.

Swap Manning out for Big Ben on the Colts and tell me how well he does?

Beat me to it, I would not consider Ben "elite"...he is very good, but not "elite". NFL network talked about that, GB wants "Championship QB", while Pits wants a QB to make a few plays when needed. Translation, GB wants a QB that is a game CHANGER, while the Steelers want a game MANAGER, which Ben does well. Packers like to pass, Steelers like to run.

Bottom line most fans know nothing about football. Those of us who coach it, well we just try to educate and know its futile.

So lets pick a QB, and then another and then another in this draft, because that is what would work in Madden right? Even though there is no real first round talent in this draft, ALL of them are 3+ year projects, we MUST get a QB DAMN IT!

Show me a picture or proof that you are a real legitimate Football coach and I will pay you.

When has Ben Roethlisberger ever been considered elite by anyone that doesn't worship Super Bowl rings.

There are 5 elite QB's in the league. Manning, Brady, Brees, Rivers, Rodgers. That's it.

Any one of those five could be interchanged with the other and their teams would still win, and the O's would play great.

Big Ben could not go to any of their teams and do well.

This damnit. How come when I make threads relating to things like this, only the idiots read it. Everyone talks about getting elite QBs like they are growing on trees. Those are the only 5 in the league (you could include Vick if he keeps it up) and the rest rely heavily on their teams to prop them up and make the look better than they are.

using last year's QBs for a better comparison...two elites and one of them lost...still, two elite QBs went to the superbowl. is the OP trying to say it doesn't matter if you have an elite or even a great QB? that's just plain stupid.

where were the teams that had the worst QBs in the league? you know, the ones whose fans keep on saying that all you need is a serviceable QB?

oh yea, what about those fans that say you should have a great run game and that as long as you have that you are good? how many times did the packers run?

Not taking anything away from the Packers, but they didn't put together many drives. They scored 21 points off turnovers and 7 of those were directly a result of the defense. Their offense didn't look that great by any means and were dominated in every facet of the game except for turnovers.

You can try and put it on A Rod's arm all you want and it's deserved but it doesn't tell the story at all. It's the story the media wants you to buy.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
