Owners come to defense of Panthers' Richardson

Dear Mr. Mod.

Whether Richardson is working with the owners to orchestrating this persona in an attempt to intimidate the players or he's just that unsavvy during negotiations, eitherway, it's poor negotiation tactics and is only hurting the Panthers, the NFL, the players and the fans.

Thanks for the forum,

silly, after all this is resolved how many people will even remember JR and his little calling out of players...other than butthurt fans of the Panthers...and maybe the Colts.

If fans can forgive some of the things that Steve Smith has done, then they can forgive JR. In fact, I wonder how many other owners would have put up with Smitty's antics the way JR did? People forget that some of that stuff happened before anybody knew Smitty was going to be a star WR, so he could have been kicked off the team, and most fans wouldn't have complained. How is that for loyalty to players?

I have a few questions.

What on Earth are you talking about?

And where did you get this $12 billion figure?

Do you eat paint chips?

Sorry, did mean 1.2 billion - but by all means get caught up in the details instead of ignoring the point which is that JR turned 250 bucks into a billion dollar valued NFL franchise in a small market, which was directed at folks questioning JR's business acumen.

Gee, imagine that. So you mean its not just JR going off and being so terrible to the players on his own? Maybe he is more than just a big senile meanie pants?

You weirdos.

dont try to convince anyone here of that, last two seasons the majority of panthers "fans" have lost all their ability to reason, if they ever had any to begin with.

People want a football season and now they've bought into the idea that JR is the one preventing that from happening, even though JR is just representing the collective will of the owners.

I do fault JR for falling into the trap of allowing himself to be painted as the "bad guy" in all of this. Wouldn't surprise me if the NFLPA makes a point of trying to provoke this kind of response from him in the future, so they can continue to paint the picture that owners don't respect the players.

I'm sure he's taken note of the strategy and will guard his emotions much more carefully in further "negotiations".

Maybe they should ask Richardson to run a post pattern

Well he may be old, but at least he has done it before. How many players know how to run an NFL franchise, or have ever shared the expenses and financial risk of the team they play for? They get paid regardless of whether the owner is making money or not.
