The Media has Officially Picked a Side

The people who hired him believe that they hold all the cards. They think that the players eventually will cave and that the owners will get what they want. They also think that the fans will tolerate whatever indignity is visited upon us without ever turning on the game.

They may be right, on both counts. But that doesn’t mean that we as fans should sit by and watch the custodians of the game risk irreparable damage to it.

So make yourselves heard, in the comments section of sites like PFT and NFL.com. Also, call or write the league office and/or NFLPA headquarters and urge the two sides to act like partners, not enemies, and to quit dragging their feet and get to work on working out a deal that will preserve not only the regular season but also the most robust and intriguing offseason in all of sports.

At the end Florio makes an attempt to be unbiased but it's very evident by the "...custodians of the game risk irreparable damage..." that NBC and PFT is taking the player's side in all of this now.

The media is hoping that their support of the players will get a deal done sooner but I think that the harder the media supports the players and more the owners are going to dig their heels into the sand.

THe media is siding with the players because the player's union is playing out the negotiations in the media while the owners are doing most of their work in private. So obviously fans and people are hearing more about the player's side. In the end what the media and fans think won't change the negotiations.

this is not surprising, everyone with any semblance of reason and intelligence is on the side of the players. they're not the ones who opted out of the CBA and are threatening no football.

When you say something like this, you prove yourself wrong.

      Completely agreed.  TBH, we have had so many great players that are in my favorite list, and I hate to narrow it down to one, but Cam is it.  Which is crazy, because you would think it would be more of the guys I grew up watching, but no.  Cam was the single most impactful player to ever out on a football uniform imo.  And like I said in an earlier post, I always felt a kinship with him in a lot of ways…  the way he was treated and judged for the off the field stuff in Florida and having to overcome all of that and fight show at back.  And although I am not a black man, I have always been welcomed by and accepted more by minorities, and thus, I know what it’s like to be judged by appearances rather than the content of your character and who you actually are.  I know what it’s like to be stereotyped and written off or mistreated for your mistakes.  I know what it’s like to be held to a different standard while your peers don’t have to meet that same standard.  So I always related to that.  And the way he came in and just electrified the whole franchise, man…  I still think about it often how much it sucks that because of how talented he was, our staff out so much on him and that ultimately cut his career short.  You’re right, there will never be another Cam…  I think Josh Allen is the closest thing we will see for a long time, but Allen is not the running threat Cam was.  Cam could run you over or around you.  That was THE absolute funnest time to watch our team ever.

      The weirdest encounter I had with a pro athlete was waiting in line at security at Mile High Stadium when I used to get the company suite tickets almost every week because I was the only employee based in Colorado. There's a small checkpoint accessing the suites that virtually no one knows about that you can usually squirt right through. I was standing there and looked over my shoulder and there stands John fuging Elway waiting in line behind me.  This was during the The Golden Calf of Bristol season right before he became GM. I just said "They make YOU go through security?" He's like "Yeah, ain't that a bitch. I literally have a statue out front and I gotta go through security like everybody else." I've heard mixed things about him but he was super nice and down to earth with me that day.
