D.Will Unlikely To be Tagged

You guys know that whomever we tag that we can still negotiate a long term deal with them.

I feel we will tag the player that will be the hardest to resign and replace. I think D-Will wants to be here and will be the easiest to resign. If not he's the easiest to replace.

On the other hand i'm not sure about Kalil and Johnson. Kalil would be the hardest to replace IMHO and I feel that he should get the tag even @ the higher cost. If we don't get an extension done in time we only have to pay him the higher salary for 1 year.

Players don't like the tag either they want stability that the long term contract gives them. I feel like any player that receives the tag will continue to bargain for a longer term deal.

I'm probably in the minority but i see us resigning all of our core FA's. Dwill, johnson, Kalil....

What MOST people fail to realize, is the tag is used more as a tool, to keep the player from hitting the open market, and extending time to get a long term contract signed.

That is how the Panthers intend on using the tag.

Worse case scenario, richardson pays him LT money for one season. Well worth the price to get the young center signed for his nfl career.

What he said:)

I know JR has taking several shots lately fair and unfair (including me), but his refusal to sign players to deals before a CBA is going to cost this team. Other teams have resigned players, some to big deals some to small. Some are currently attempting to sign guys to long term deals. I'm not saying the Panthers should try to resign or extend half the team, but what if they had done a deal with Kalil last fall or johnson now. You would have a much better chance at keeping their "core" guys they say they want to keep. And continue with the "build through the draft" philsophy.

This is an example of Jerrys apothem hurting the team.

He refuses to deal with any contracts prior to a CBA which means he can't use the tag on Williams.....in case a deal didn't later get worked out w Kalil

Other than Seymore with the Raiders, I don't see any other owner resigning their FA's either.(Davis is an idoit) My guess is all the FA's on our team have an idea what the team is going to do about contracts. They aren't going anywhere without the CBA so there isn't a big rush to do anything at this point anyway. You know there's a long way to go. We are VERY early in the process and when things are resolved i suspect that Hurney and Co have a plan that they can move on very quickly.
