"If it were up to me to fix the QB spot, I would..."

If a QB I really like falls into the 3rd or 4th I'd take a chance on one there... Probably cut Pike, bring the rookie, Clausen, and two veterans to camp.

Let Clausen compete against the two veterans in camp. Best two get carried into the regular season, likely favoring Clausen and one of the veterans. Rookie rounds out the third spot.

If I don't like any of the rookies, I go into camp with Pike, Clausen, and two veterans. Practice squad Pike, carry Clausen and two veterans into the season with whatever depth chart camp determines.

Get a vet, probably Palmer. Let clausen ride the bench for half the season and develop with the mentorship and new QB coach. Then put him back if he's shown he can do it. He needs experience to grow, like JR said, but only after proper development. Put him in hte bullring till he's stop flinching with the threat of any contact.j/k

Wonder how much Plamer would go for.

1.) Draft Cam Newton with the first overall pick. Just because we missed on Andrew Luck doesn't mean that we shouldn't address our biggest need, and there aren't too many players that are worth the number one. Fairley reminds me of Albert Haynesworth. If however we can trade down and pick up a second rounder, I wouldn't mind waiting a year to draft our guy and giving Clausen another year at the helm.

2.) Have Jimmy start the year. It is impossible to tell who Clausen really is from last year alone. He was awful, but I feel like we learned nothing about him and coming into this year he will essentially be a rookie. If he's really as bad as he looked then we will find out very quickly.

3.) Sign a veteran? I suppose this would be a good thing to do in case Jimmy falters hard and if we don't think Cam is ready yet. Someone like Jon Kitna or Shaun Hill would be ideal.

Whether or not we spend our first on a QB this year on Cam Newton, or next year on different guy, Jimmy should continue playing and we should pick up a serviceable veteran/backup.

    • Nobody on the huddle is saying we have an elite group offensively across the board. They aren't great. They're young. If you are expecting someone to agree with your position of blaming everyone around Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career you are going to be left holding the bag save for a handful of people who act like they are paid to defend his honor. Bryce Young is not a guy who has had to claw and fight his way into starting jobs in football. He's had the best to work with and been gifted roles since he was a teenager. The Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the league and with us needing an infusion of young defensive talent in the upcoming draft we're only going to get younger. We need a QB who possesses the ability to elevate those around him. If you can't agree with me on that then there's nothing further to discuss.
    • All Bryce and the Panthers had to do was split with the Saints and a rookie QB. The bar was so low. They even had a whole bye week to prepare. The time for singing kumbaya was before that game. Anyone still talking about Bryce earning a second contract 43 games into his career is living a fantasy. He might get one from the Tepper owned Panthers but he's damn sure not earned it.
