People have been announcing the death of Adam Thielen for 5 years now.  He was done when we signed him, and last year his yards per game had him on pace for an even better season than 2023.  He's still the best WR we have until proven otherwise.

This is some real talk type of stuff. Im guilty of bad AT comments and all he's done is drag the team towards the light.

Ill expose myself more, the reports came out that he wanted a little more money and guarantees for the 2025....... I thought it was best to cut him......Like my guy you are 35 years old and that contract was more than fair when your original team didn't want want you back.

I hated the contract when we signed him, but by some miracle he has actually out performed it.  Like I said.  It was a Charlotte Hornets signing.  Not one other team was paying AT what we did.  It just happened to work out for us.

Dude is a straight baller and worth it. I didn't like the contract or the raise he got either, but he's bought effort and results on a awful team for those two years and wanted to come back.....

I plain miss-read his heart and will. I mean think of the team the past two years WITHOUT him, dear gods that would historic bad. Plus I do believe he has helped BY become a NFL QB, no other panther WR gave any help.

101 in YPC and 54th in touchdowns in 2023 with 1k yards.

In 2024 when our passing offense supposedly showed growth he was still 43rd in YPC and 50th in touchdowns.

The only thing odd and bizarre is thinking that justifies 9 million a season bud. It doesn't. We can accept it because we're Panthers fans but that's about it.

The. Only. Receiver. Producing.

Yeah, let's blame that guy. LOL

He doesn't get open.  But he does have hands.

Next Gen had him #3 with hands and #92 in getting open.  Which feels about right.

It seems having amazing hands is still worth something in the NFL.  PFF had his overall grade for last year as 28th overall, which I also think feels about right.

I'm glad you're wowed with winning the shortest midget contest. But some people have higher aspirations.

Blaming him for what? Not wanting to pay him 9 million a season to be borderline mid at best is not blaming him for anything. It's a simple acknowledgement that we settled and going forward we need to cut that out and actually develop talent along the whole offense.

No receiver on this team, or any player for that matter, should get reps just because they need the reps. They want the reps? Beat the dudes out in front of them. Bust ass in practice and make fewer mistakes than everyone else. if this team is serious about competing with other teams, they should be serious about competing amongst themselves. Want it? Take it. If Adam really is that bad, he should be a piece of cake to outshine, right?

Honestly Frank is right if you view AT in a certain way. He's not apart of the future and Panthers won 2 and 5, correct? Did it matter if AT was on the field or not? Plus in a way he does hinder young WR with taking snaps. He is getting paid very well for 34-35 year olds, not many teams, maybe no other teams would give that much.

Its the classic both sides have key points. I was of the opinion to cut him and didn't care for the og contract, but they traded DJ Moore...I thought Clark was going do what AT did, nope! Just to add if 2021 hunter is back and he's on a min deal, would you rather have AT@ 9million or hunter@ 1mill?

It's the only argument I need.

There's a lot of low hanging fruit you could blame but you're going after the one guy who is actually doing what he was brought here to do.

"If you view him in a certain way"

He wasn't brought here to be a #1. He was forced to be the #1 because the rest of the roster failed. That ain't his fault. I rest my case.

Why is he so different from any other below average WR we've trotted out over the years? You act like he's your brother in law. These are just conversations. It's not like any of us has any say. You're entitled to your opinion same as anyone else is entitled to theirs.

No, I don't. What are you talking about? He was brought here to be a #3. He lived up to that. The rest of the roster failed. And you blame the one guy producing. That's what I'm talking about.

He's played great and it was a win-win (rare free agent) for both parties.

One of the points is he hasn't made enough difference to "waste" 35 million on. Another point is by the time Panthers are hitting their prime, he would have taken snaps away from young WRs/TEs/RBs. "Thus" in the long term, hurting the teams new future "window."

But I dare think of the monkey poo of a offense the Panthers had without him the past 2 years. Lack of talent leads to many problems, including paying a 35 year old to be somewhat respectable. Hes one of few that cared enough and made a effort. Plus you know he's done great stuff in many other ways for the team, community juggernaut, leadership, etc.

Judgement is for AT and his 3 year panther career!!

Me and you clearly have different definitions of production. If you remove the 2023 season where Thielen had just over 1k yards he is 43rd on our all time receivers list just ahead of Jonathan Mingo. And before you ask why would we remove that season? Well a couple reasons. For one thing we won a whopping 2 games. And for the biggest. Thielen was 14th in targets in 2023. We absolutely force fed him the ball all season and finished with the 32nd passing offense. For comparison sake 33 year old Jerricho Cotchery eclipsed over 1k total yards in just 2 more games and with 67 less targets than Thielen did in that 2023 season. He has above average hands. That's it. We overpaid him because we were desperate and overvalued him. That's the reality no matter how many times you or anyone else wants to quote me and get defensive about it.
