Preseason Week 3 - vs. Pittsburgh (practice tweets, discussion, etc)

Light practice today. Will try to catch the thread up with any prior vids/tweets/news/etc.

Figured with the game being on Thursday that I'd just put everything into this thread. Wouldn't be surprising for it to be a slow news week with light practices to rest starters.

Anyone else amped to see if Bryce Perkins can steal Plummer's spot?  ✋👀

Some #Panthers attendance notes:

—Jaycee Horn is wearing a helmet; looks like he’ll be practicing; he’s been out for a few weeks with stitches on his hand

—No OLB DJ Johnson; he missed the game with the #Texans presumably with a hip injury; we’ll get an update post-practice

Nic Scourton jogging around on the sideline for rehab.

Encouraging to see for the rookie who suffered a collapsed lung from a hit in practice with the Texans on Thursday.

No timeline yet on his return, but good to see him moving around.

Looks like Andy Dalton is fine, or if not, seem long term

I wonder if the Bryce Perkins signing is purely so Dalton doesn't have to play Thursday and nothing more

Although I'd love it if the signing were competition for Jack Plummer

Tetairoa McMillan is here watching the receivers while the rest of the group goes through individual work. We’ll figure out what’s going on with the #Panthers first-round pick after practice.

Today’s practice is in shorts and helmets and only a half-tick above a walk-through. So won’t be sending out a ton of updates.

Dave Canales: Jaycee Horn got stitches out, so he practiced.

Bobby Brown (knee), DJ Johnson (hip) out today. TMac (hamstring), "all stoved up."

Nic Scourton: Significant improvement. Running today. "Huge improvements." Will not play this week though.

Canales: “Huge improvement” for Nic Scourton, who was running today but won’t play Thursday.

Tetairoa McMillan had a really sore hamstring, but may not play vs Steelers.

Andy Dalton, more of a muscle strain. He's day to day with soreness. But no panic. He threw in individual.

“Huge improvement” from Nic Scourton since Saturday. He was running a bit today, per Canales.

DJ Johnson has sore hip, LaBryan Ray’s ankle has reacted slower than expected. Tetairoa McMillan has a sore hamstring and might not play Thursday.

CB Jaycee Horn got his stitches out.

    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
    • I hear you but yeah like you say, above average. His numbers were good. You’d think it would be a no brainer. Anyhow… I guess the new staff is also fine with him walking?    I hope if we sign him there isn’t some secret issue of his that led to him not being valued.
