Player-led approach

So when are these players gonna step up and suggest replacing #9?  Maybe that's the only way to get it done.

From what we can tell he still hasn’t lost the locker room. He better stop hurting the team with stupid fumbles if he wants that to continue

Canales purposefully doesn't give out game balls.

That's not stopping the players from doing it (reference: this week's locker room vid). Player-led recognition helps build team rather than being an award from the coaches.

small obs from this week's video? Thought I saw Tep in the back of a shot. Present (which is fine, especially after a win like that), but on video definitely quiet

Sometimes players see things from the field coaches cant see from above. When I was an OL I would often come out after a series and talk to coach about small shifts the defense was making to cheat one way or another and how to adjust plays to take advantage. I suspect many players do the same. Different perspectives allow for different calls.

Im fine with this, I want the guys determined.  People are only critical because we've been ass for so long.  We loved the fire of players wanting stuff like this when we were good.  This is Cam Newton from the atlanta game back in 2017.

Its ok for the coach to hear the players passion and let them take charge.  It works 2 ways, it lets players take ownership over the team, makes them FULLY responsible for their actions, but flipside, if it goes wrong, next time it happens, the coach will just go "remember that time".  Its just like any business at that point.  If you want employees to work hard, they need to feel invested in the product and just like that its good that the team feels like they have a stake in the game.

    • You won't believe this, but neither with the information at hand Nobody wants to believe me, but this thread and my issues with the team have absolutely nothing to do with T-Mac.  Do I wish he had more targets or some TD's already?  Of course, but he's 15th in the league in yards and on pace for 1,200 as a rookie, 2nd in the league in 20+ yard catches, 5th in the league in 1st down catches.   He's on pace to shatter Panthers rookie records and could potentially end up in contention for a Pro Bowl slot depending how the season shakes out. This thread was about our piss poor offensive play calling, as we're never going to be able to properly develop any of our young offensive weapons this year with how that's been going. If we're having the same issues as always, then yea, I'm puling for option 1 for my guy, because what really matters isn't changing. But if you tell me we had a great pass/run mix, keeping the defense off balance, getting chunk yards on a consistent basis, XL, Horn, Coker, Sanders, Evans, etc, make plays that show they're improving. Then yes, I'll take option B with T-Mac taking a backseat when that other stuff happens, because it's what is best for the future of this franchise.  This season isn't just about T-Mac, it's about improving ALL of our young weapons, but that won't happen with the way Canales has been calling games (and with how Bryce has played)
    • Panthers passing YPG since 2020. 2020 - 19 out of 32 2021 - 30 out of 32 2022 - 29 out of 32 2023 - 32 out of 32 2024 - 30 out of 32 2025 - 21 out of 32 With Adam Thielen out of the picture we are fielding the most productive passing offense since 2020 so you guys who want to cape are going to have a pick one between the QB and the WR's. You can't keep saying the receivers are trash because clearly it's not the case. It clearly shows the investment we've made in surrounding our #1 overall pick with talent.
