i dont know about every team but he definitely called Arizona and they turned him down to draft Dan Williams which is just two bad teams doing bad things.

Yeah, he was definitely trying to trade back up into the 1st to draft Clausen. Imagine trading away the #1 overall pick to draft Jimmy fuging Clausen. LOL

The Panthers did that last year with the picks to trade up for Bryce Young. They gave what turned out to be the  #1 pick in the 2024 draft to Chicago. What a terrible decision Tepper made to push this trade up on his team for the 2023 draft. It will take years to recover as we are witnessing.

Yeah, for sure. But as awful as Bryce is he's still better than Clausen. I could see Bryce hanging around in the league as a career backup. Clausen wasn't even close to being good enough to do that. He's on the short list of worst guys to start games at QB in the NFL. Bryce is on the short list of worst multi-year starters. There's levels to this suck game. LOL

Many of us were begging the universe not to let that trade happen and once it did not to draft Young. It was totally foreseeable. That is the real shame of it, it wasn’t ever a decent gamble.

ps we would have been better served spending it all on hookers and blow.

Yes,

But at least with Clausen he was one and done, and the Panthers did not spend valuable resources around him to pretend like he was the answer. Panthers only spent a high 2nd on him, and missed.
Since the BY trade-up, the Panthers have made bad decision after another. Almost as if to justify their bad trade-up decision.

We practically are living that right now.

It’s different, and luckily not as bad as that hypothetical would have been.

cam newton was immediately the exact opposite of everything Bryce has been. Caleb hasn’t touched that.

it doesn’t matter. I think if we’d had rolled it back with darnold and co they’re not drafting anywhere near the top three qbs.

All that is true I suppose, but t his is a bad as I ever want to see it.
We for sure would have been better off with Darnold and keeping all of our picks.

The investment in the defensive front this off-season is showing up and even the terrible LBs behind them are starting to look serviceable because of it.

The D honestly looks a couple of pieces away from being pretty damn good.

Is it investment or is it just Derrick brown being healthy

Like people talk about princely or scourton but I barely notice them. It just looks to me like Derrick brown is blowing up the interior of offensive lines every play.

hurney stays winning obviously.

Don’t forget Bobby Brown is a huge complement to DB

Derek has finally gotten some help on the dline so the offense cannot afford to focus solely on him. Now you see what DB can really do.

    • I'm super excited about the guys we're getting back, and fortunately this year, outside of Robert Hunt, we haven't had any season-threatening injuries. Rico has earned the start, but I am excited to have both available.  The team is finally turning into the run-first team Canales said he wanted to be. As for JT Sanders, I think he has lost the most be being out. He is probably our best receiving TE, but with the emergence of Mitchell Evans & with him and Tommy Tremble both absolutely balling in run blocking, it will be hard to fix something that isn't broken. I'm hoping Turk Wharton can help with our pass rush. We really havent gotten to see him much due to injuries, but we desperately need anyone to provide some pass rush juice, which is what he was brought to do. I'm the most excited about Jalen Coker returning. Theilen may have been the most clutch last year, but I've watched a lot of film, and Coker was the most consistent WR we had when he was out there last year.  I think he can be an ideal #2 to Tmac. While Coker doesn't have the raw athleticism XL does, his route running, savvy, and overall football IQ simply make him better.  I think with the fact Coker can play both outside and in the slot will give our pass game more versatility.  We have been running a lot of 2 TE sets, and I think Tmac & Coker should be the primary WRs for 12 personnel. The other WRs (XL, Tremayne, Renfrow, & Horn) all have roles, but I dont think any of them can fully replace what Coker can do. I do think Renfrow will be inactive this week if everyone is healthy bc of how valuable Tremayne is for ST and as a run blocker. So happy that we are playing meaningful football heading into November. We are still almost certainly a year away, but we are absolutely moving in the right direction
