Drafting X is like the poster board for mistakes. Hopefully, lesson learned.

I've been here longer if we are keeping it a buck. You whine too much to be an OG.

If we're keeping it a buck, my original name is Top Dawg. I have been here since 2002 or 2003. Between this board getting hacked, and me forgetting and simply losing my password and the site not sending me a damned reset, I simply made an alternative account. @Zod himself, or any other person who has been on this board for 20+ years will tell you that I've been here a long time. Hell even some who may not have been here that long know I have pretty much been an institution on the board. I am an OG.

As for "whining," you can characterize legitimate football discussion however you like, but suffice it to say, if I am "whining," it's due to years of sucking. I would suggest that you, or anyone else who's upset that I have become critical that Xavier Legette will never be worth what we paid for him just suck it up. I haven't even criticized him as much as I've become somewhat critical of him. The same goes for Bryce. If both or one can turn it around, especially when the stakes are at their highest and can be what we thought that we were getting, I will praise them. My like or dislike of a player on the football field doesn't have to be a static proposition. But, you better believe, that as a long term fan that has been with this team before 1995, I am going to criticize, or be critical of, any team member---player, coach, owner---good or bad, as I see fit. That's what the Carolina Huddle is here for.

I’ll start by saying he has been very disappointing. I will also say that targets don’t always equal catchable balls. I’ve seen some misses and I’ve seen him get open but not targeted (especially that Dallas game). Has he struggled? Yes very much so. It’s also a case of our offense trying to find him a role and our QB getting chemistry with him in that role. I don’t think he will ever live up to his draft status but I could see him being a Brandon Lafell type player. His last second pull away in his Miami TD was a thing of beauty so there is definitely talent there. Hopefully we can get it out of him soon.

Honestly that's a massive insult to LaFell. LaFell was productive out of the gate and maintained a level of productivity throughout his 9 year career.

At this point, I think XL is a lot closer to Mingo than most people want to admit.

I mean, a month ago I didn't want to admit it. Now people are getting their tighty-wighties in a wad because I dare say something decidedly negative about X (and/or Bryce). I am somewhat mystified. I want X to become a star. And I don't really give a fúck what they say, he's been disappointing. The difference between he and Ladd has been stark. If he could just be half of Ladd---hell, Laviska Shenault---it would be a great improvement. A glorified Mingo? Not so much.

I guess I worded that wrong, I think he can become a LaFell type WR. He obviously isn’t there yet.

No, I mean even that comparison this far in is kind of insulting to LaFell. He was just a better overall player at this point in their careers.

The thing thaf is concerning is that he appears to not be struggling with a 1st or 2nd round WR typical issues, he seems to be struggling with an undrafted free agent or practice squad player level issues. How to even become an NFL caliber player and how to raise your play to the level to be on an NFL roster.

It's the simplest stuff that he isn't seemingly capable of doing.

He was a first round draft pick. Those are literally the type of games he is supposed to have.

Dog 9 catches for 92 yards a game

Is 144 & 1500

wtf are you talking about. Lmaoo.

Does Bryce look like he can get XL 1500 yards in a season?

Name another number 2 that’s getting a legit 1200’s per year

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
