QB 2026 (For the Young Haters)

This. 2026 draft class is weak. And if any team REALLY should have learned its lesson on reaching for a QB in a weak draft class, it's us.

We need to trade for a QB. I'd much rather spend multiple 1st rounders on a proven starter than roll the dice again on a rookie. Because that plan clearly hasn't worked out.

Worked for Buffalo. No Young is not Allen, but Allen had to learn how to throw certain passes before he became what he is today. Young can learn that too. Fran Tarkenton was not a tall QB, but he learned and the coaches worked to his strengths to make him a great QB. Young is starting to throw with some zip on his balls. Maybe a small roll out to give better looks. Takes time. That first year was a killer for him and the team. We can see improvements since his first year. Next year he will show more. I am not a Young fan but I will take him over an old washed up QB any day.

Yeah the idea of it being all or nothing on a Bryce replacement is the way to think about it. Get a Jameis or equivalent in FA, draft a guy wherever and make camp an open competition. instead of coddling Bryce. At the least it will make him take the job more seriously, best case we upgrade and he either gets traded or makes a good backup

Yep, just sign me a legit veteran journeyman then keep our options open in the draft and don't force anything.

Philly would rape us like the Bears did.

Howell really doesn't have a chance of seeing the field in Philadelphia outside of injury or mop-up duty. If Howell isn't under contract, you don't think the Eagles would be willing to let him go for 4th or 5th?

If they did that's a trade you almost have to make. Even if never became starter that wouldn't be a bad price to acquire a backup QB. Howell would be an immediate upgrade from Dalton.

He's a question I would like an opinion on.

Do you think Canales is sold on Bryce?  That's really the question everyone should be answering.

There's no way he's sold. I see a combination of coach speak and coddling when it comes to Bryce. Which is what Canales needs to do in order for Bryce to be successful enough for Canales to keep his job.

But Canales has to be pining for a QB who doesn't need a perfect situation in order to overcome his limitations.

You're missing a really key factor here. That factor being baseline talent. Josh Allen is as physically talented at the QB position as it gets. Bryce is on the opposite end of the spectrum. This is why coaches and GMs are willing to roll the dice on raw talent. Every now and then you get Josh Allen. You usually get Anthony Richardson, but as the old saying goes you can't coach height/speed/arm strength, etc. You might be able to coach up raw talent but if a guy doesn't have the prerequisite physical talent there's nothing you can do about that. It just is what it is.

The other thing is Bryce is getting worse.
