Young is,Young

not going to change

he seems to do better out of the pocket , off script with for lack of  better phrasing, drama ball…not hero ball, drama  ball

one of the issues he may have is his receivers are very nfl level inexperienced and do not know when to break off routes that aren’t working and find that spot where Young can find them

to my mind, that is why Thielen excelled here…he knew when and how to stop a route that wasnt working, where to settle for the little guy to see him and work his  way back to Young when young was in trouble

So do you think having inexperienced receivers and Thielen being gone affects Youngs' performance negatively?

You are putting words in my mouth.

Okay you didn’t propose that the inexperience of the receivers is the reason for the conservative play calling. You didn’t say that, right?
I downplayed the OL characterizations because the last game with the ultra conservative approach was sort of a unique situation. One game. Anyhow…
Without looking back through your stuff with AT to really be accurate, you basically claim that his absence is kind of at the root of this receiver weakness. My words.
I will comment on that.

Bryce Young.
1st overall. Billed as a point guard. Third year. That third year is big , I mean when do the training wheels come off?
But don’t you think a guy with  his pedigree should be able to adapt? and we are half way throug the season. Not week one or two.

I mean I didn’t try to misrepresent what you said. I am fine with being corrected bc in that regard.
But you are making a lot of claims for a Bryce that many people - including the much respected Greg Cosell - have gotten past.
You do know that he is on record twice that I know of, basically saying what I said. What other people say.
You are sort of Bryce’s Don Quixote here it seems to me.

please excuse whatever typos the phone is small the keys are small.
I think I have corrected most of that mistakes.

Can you give me examples of why you believe he "tried" to open the offense but couldn't?

I think the short passes are more a product of Canale knowing they are not going to win many shootouts. The receiver are too young and inexperienced and the OL is built more for run blocking than pass blocking.

Make no mistake about it, I give a ton of credit to the OL and Rico. Just because I illustrate how well Young played in crunch time does not mean I do not recognize everyone elses contribution.

Any chart of Bryce trying to throw it down field would be my references I'm not going to take the time tbh but they out there in droves.

Canales got this team playing complementary football so like I said before I can't wait till we get an actual QB that we can adapt the offense when needed

I am paranoid I guess but have a hard time feeling like we are getting one

If you look at almost every QB in a team with a winning record or consistently in the playoffs their QB averages over 200 ypg.

Here are a few ypg averages for 2025:

Daniel Jones: 267, that is with an amazing RB.

Mahomes: 261, that was with a few games without some of his weapons

Baker: 239, lost his best weapon and still is putting up numbers

Penix: 232, Falcons are floundering and Penix ypg is still higher than Bryce's

Allen: 229

Lawrence: 230

Bryce: 173 and he isn't anywhere close to these other QBs.

I included two teams that are not that great and Lawrence is not that good and still is posting higher passing stats then Bryce. Bryce has got to get his passing stats higher if he wants to keep his job. I want to win a Super Bowl and a QB struggling to pass 150 yards a game will not cut it.

No, the conservative playcalling is not because of the young receivers and o-line. It is because Canales knows he is limited with Bryce and has to work around him.

Bryce has struggled to pass ever since he entered the league and 3 years in it is obvious he will never be a QB that can be relied to win the game with his arm.

What’s crazy is the Bears might be in first place in the NFC North or tied with the Lions for it by the end of the weekend.

That would be crazy especially to us because our pick took Williams. And all the other talent we provided for them.
Tbey were smart we were stupid.
