Not throwing at the combine, carrying 20 pounds of water weight, his deep ball looked like ass at his pro day, it was all there...

It certainly was.  Try to tel that to most people and you got piles of turfs for your trouble.  And years now of BS. arguments and stats and excuses.
AND you are too negative.
damn right I am negative on him it is common sense.

I was wrong about his ability to stay healthy. Seems to be his one strength. I mean look how fast he got healthy this year...

Here’s what really gets me. Height is what it is and there’s nothing he can do about that, but my guy just looks smooth. Not muscular at all, and it has not changed in 2.5 seasons. He looks exactly the same from his first day of training camp.

He could have EASILY put 20 lbs of solid muscle on by now, and it would have really helped his throwing strength, but he hasn’t. He either doesn’t see his lack of strength as an issue or he doesn’t care enough to do something about it. Either way, completely unacceptable.  At least show that you’re trying, bro. I can’t come up with 1 thing he has shown marked improvement in since being drafted.

Not everyone. I was and still am vocal about how little physical talent was on his school film. A couple of other posters were too but it was less than 5 here. He looked like a guy who peaked in school and should never have been a first round pick.

Oh, I was too. I just still underestimated just how badly physically limited he was going to be.

I thought you had it pretty good.  The wonky unworkable mechanics and the weak arm put together are a bad recipe.
Add the lack of field vision from being that short he was screwed and so was whoever took him.

I thought his arm was just going to be run of the mill below average. It's worse. I think part of the reason it's worse is that anytime there's any traffic in front of him he has to lift the ball up and over that traffic. Having to throw with that arcing trajectory is going to impact the velocity you can drive. In a clean pocket with the ability to step up, I think his arm probably is run of the mill NFL below average. But then put him in typical NFL game scenarios and it plays out a lot worse. I honestly don't think there's a big difference between his and Mac Jones' arm of they're both just standing around throwing the ball around in drills. But that's not an NFL football game.

He is completely dependent on maximizing his velocity via proper throwing mechanics.  Being set and driving it with his lower body.

Someone said something maybe it was here that they notice his throws have some zip when he is moving forward.  Like out in space and gets the momentum.
Without that momentum or being set and planting he loses velocity and with it timing accuracy and any advantage he could get from anticipation.

It's his lauch pad throws. In school he was behind great blocking and it's like he ran into his throws that went down field to WRs that had so much space they could adjust and still be ahead of the DBs.

The mechanical issues were no surprise.
I used Tiger Woods’ struggles for an analogy and people just ignored it.
If you recall he was setting the world on fire for years and got it in his head that his swing needed improving. Rebuilding. Because it wasn’t perfect, I guess.
He was never really the same, probably age and injuries factored into the falloff by the time he got transitioned but he struggled for years to get there.

Changing your ingrained mechanics to a second set of ingrained mechanics is a years long thing. It all looks good until the pressure gets ramped up and then you default to the familiar and comfortable. Until you get the new stuff just as familiar and comfortable. That is no overnight thing.

Or as Tepper thought, fix it this week lol. Said that poo to Frank, allegedly. Lol.
Bryce has the weirdest worst footwork I have ever seen.

You could see it at his pro day. Extra steps for the long balls.

    • Hello, soccer fans [crickets, tumbleweed flies by]. The World Cup kicks off in less than 2 weeks and, well, 🇺🇸USA USA USA🇺🇸 and all. We beat Senegal 3-2 yesterday in a tune-up friendly at BoA, with Christian Pulisic finally entering the scoring column.  How will we do in the World Cup once our tournament kicks off on the 12th? Well, there are 48 teams (assuming Iran is there) and it feels like one of two thing happens: we get grouped for the first time since '98, or we make it to the Round of 16 for the third time in the last four World Cups. I tried out the lottery for an Atlanta game and struck out, so yesterday was as World Cup as I'll get for in-person ($285/ticket for like Norway vs $39/ticket for USMNT right beforehand was a layup).  The U.S. has a travel-heavy schedule in group play, playing in LA, Seattle and LA. Real road warrior mentality being built. Glad the east coast gets worse kickoff times for a NA World Cup than a Qatar World Cup.
    • Well, that's the thing. Drafting players only for their physical measurables as you are suggesting only really happened during 2024, and X unfortunately has become the poster child for that. To be clear, it's not necessarily about drafting RAS over skill, but RAS over NFL-readiness and/or a solid body of work. Lots of players show skill in college, but those skills don't necessarily translate to the NFL for a multitude of reasons. But, getting back to the main point, to be clear, I believe that our FO is still enamored with physical gifts (who wouldn't be?), but now they're letting Dr. Eric Eager's proprietary system--his "secret sauce" prioritize the players that the Panthers draft, and it seems like it weighs not only a solid body of work, relative to a college career of course, but consistent gradual improvement as evidenced by production pretty highly.
    • Its a good article about how pathetically bad our past drafts ('23 and '24) have been. Building the team in '23 since we weren't ready yet and taking your qb in '24 made so much more sense in hindsight. Ladd McConkey over XL is pretty much a given but not sure it does as much to change Bryce's trajectory as the author suggests.  As bad as '23 and '24 drafts were, the '25 and '26 really give me hope.
