Is this the lowest IQ “winning” team we’ve fielded?

They're not dumb.  They just handcuffed by one of the worst starting QBs in NFL history.  The rest of the team is serviceable to good.  We just have a bum QB who is dragging the entire franchise down.

It's not coaching.  It's not playcalling.  It's not officiating.  It's Bryce Young.  That's it.  Full stop.  We're spinning our wheels til he's gone.

I am not a Bryce fan, but I am not a hater either.  He's not the worst in NFL history, he's not even the worst starting quarterback this team has had.  Look at this list:

Frank Reich

Kerry Collins

Chris Weinke

Matt Lytle

Randy Fasani

Vinny Testaverde

Matt Moore

Jimmy Clausen

Brian St. Pierre

Kyle Allen

Taylor Heinicke

Teddy Bridgewater

And he has the highest completion percentage of any Panther quarterback ever. He not great. but worst in NFL history? Come on......

I got news for you. Most pro football players are dumb as a box of rocks. They are just really good at said football.

I think you would find that old trope is significantly less accurate in the modern era. Don't get me wrong, you are always gonna have a chunk of dum-dums but there are a lot less of those "athletes that can't read" stories than the 80's and 90's.

A lot of the development systems around young athletes actually require them to be considerably sharper and there is more focus on the educational aspects because not being able to survive in a formal educational environment is such a career limiting factor. I think the biggest evolution has been the improvements in the support systems around the athletes. The people around them are rarely dismissive of education anymore and a college degree now has the significance of a high school diploma. It's a rather basic component.

I posted the link. here it is again.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Carolina_Panthers_starting_quarterbacks

look at the  Team career passing records
under %    his 61.2

Am I reading that wrong?

Again I am not saying he's the best, just not the worst. Let's keep this on topic. DeAngelo Beason said he was the worst starting quarterback in the history of the NFL. Not true.

It's not an accurate table because it is missing a ton of starting QB's, both short term and medium term. It's for total yardage, so it's missing most of the guys from above.

If you include all players credited with at least one start, he would be 6th of 24.

Also, his career completion percentage would be considered near the bottom of the NFL during his career. That's a bit more context for that overall.

If you include the coaching staff, I think this team is our "dunce" since inception.

My opinion would include the times the running game was shut down - not by opponents, but by our staff.  I would add in careless use of timeouts, ridiculous penalties in some of the losses (do we ever practice lining up onsides?), and especially when we showed our defense to the Saints in plenty of time for them to make an adjustment during the Timeout and call a play to defeat the scheme.

I agree that the coaching staff is very subpar. Evero has some good elements at times but Dave Canales is a very bottom tier OC and HC.
