BY shoulda been Howell'd after his rook season. But no...we are going to trot him out there another year...like he grew 5" and has a strong arm and processing abilities. We need someone for when hes benched next year. It wouldn't take much to beat him out in competition...if there wasn't an agenda.

I mean Reich literally quiet quit when they drafted Young.

You could see the light go out of his eyes. The highly respected NFL HC (and original Panther!) was fired mid-season because he knew he couldn't win with Young.

Any self-respecting franchise would have seen his play and pivoted, moving on from Young that year, but no we continue to trot him out there with no competition. It's maddening.

Evero, Canales, Bryce all tied together through at least next year. Honestly, it’s one of the smarter things Tepper has done.

it gives you the opportunity to see if this squad can continue to grow before making any extension decisions.

If next year bombs out, you have a pretty easy reset with a fresh staff, a high pick, a talented roster, and no qb crippling contract.

Well besides paying Young $27m for replacement level play of course.

There's nothing wrong with the coaching staff and the roster very much is a rebuild in process. It's still not an attractive proposition for a Head Coach with this meddling owner in charge.

....Yea, it literally wiped the smile right off Reichs face. We are kind of in the same position as Shitsburgh, looking for a QB.  They keep looking and trying to improve at qb but we just say: 'nah, we good'. The Dipper agenda keeps BY alive. To bad we didn't give Darnold or Mayfield that kind of time, They at least had the tools, skills and attributes of a QB. Its tough to win in the NFL, at least give yourself a chance.

That is a huge point of contention with me. The assets brought in for him, those guys got none of that, and no time either. I mean we are going 4 years here all in. And still don’t know that the floor can be raised.

I don’t hundred percent agree with the last paragraph, considering what was invested.
But when Reich told them the truth about the footwork issues, and seeing Young was not prepared for the under center game, and obviously Reich did not think he should be starting… a good franchise would have respected his opinion and let him handle the QB the way he thought best.

5 years is plenty of time to develop a mediocre backup QB.

The thing that stands out to me is the guys who have been drafted since, some of them pretty low, are out progressing and flat outplaying Young. It isn’t one guy either. It is several.
So much of it comes down to skill set. Physical tools. They have more of them.

Height is a component in this. A large portion of the stuff with Bryce comes from his poor field vision, which is 100% height related.

You hire a coach and give him a multi year contract, trade up to 1st overall with 4 potential QBs to chose from, it only makes logical sense that he would get to select his QB. He's going to be running the team for at least 3 years, hypothetically. Why wouldn't he get his guy?

Bryce was Tepper's choice, not Frank's. You knew Frank didn't want to work for Dave after the draft. Can't work for a guy you can't trust and Dave and Scott lied to him. His face told the story then, it showed during the season, and he completely gave up when he couldn't fix Bryce over the weekend.

I believe you are accurate there. Without knowing for a fact, I think we basically understand what happened.

    • Oh please with the wallowing in victimhood I'm going to take my ball and go home routine. You were just in here referring to people as super weird haters because they don't completely agree with your borderline delusional spin on what Bryce Young is and isn't as a fourth year starter. We can hope by some miracle that Bryce Young will actually be able to lead a formidable passing offense this season without being irrational homers and pretending verfiable data and what we have seen with our own two eyes doesn't tell us exactly what he has been to this point which is someone who moves the ball at a historically low rate.
    • I am curious who's behind all of this though. A video and photos from years ago surfacing? Someone has a vendetta and is driving this PR campaign. I'm loving it, but I'd also like to know who said mystery figure is.
    • I say positive things about Bryce when he earns them. Which he has a handful of times. It is all here and on the record but your lobby won’t focus on that or the flat out truth inside of our critical comments.  It is a constant thing with him and his backers - one or two good things and people are trying to extrapolate that to proof we should commit to him, while ignoring or making excuses for the larger portion of his track record.  When he is able to consistently turn in franchise QB extension worthy outings the tone of the posts will reflect that.  I have already said that if he would play like he did in the WC as often as we need him to, I would be okay with keeping him.  See you don’t want to talk about that though because it shows actual fair minded evaluation not stanning.
