Either cranky is just trolling us and he’s literally an artist or he has schizophrenia spectrum disorder and needs to go back on his clozaril.

LOl not schizo (although my wife may disagree). Just tired of starting off having conversations about Bryce that aways seem to go sideways and wind up in a pissing match. I've decided it's not worth it. I know you guys have your opinion and I'll never change it so why even try.

That does not mean I will not jump in a conversation to debate particular points. I still feel the same way about him today as I always have. I've just learned there are certain things not worth debating/argueing about.

Just so everyone is clear. Regardless of where you may fall in the conversation. It has always been this way with every Panthers starting QB. And it will continue on with the one after and the one after that. Some of it is just the nature of the internet. Some of it is due to the fact that we have generally had such small windows of actual franchise QB level play as a sports team so as the years go on it just becomes more and more contentious.

Still. The majority of people here engaging want the same goal. To win a Super Bowl. Everything in between will eventually result in endless pissing matches. That's sports fandom. It just is what it is. Anyone that is overwhelmed by that is encouraged to unplug for the sake of their own sanity and those around them.

/PSA.

I understand. I remember the debates about Cam so know this isn't an isolated event.

I know several Ravens fans that want to replace Lamar Jackson. Same with Cowboys fans and Dak. Par for the course.

So you are putting Bryce on the Dax and Lamar level?
As if someone wanting to replace Bryce is the same?

Really?

Come on man. You're trying too hard. The point was if fans of teams with those much better QBs want to get rid of them, then of course there are Carolina fans that would want to get rid of Bryce. I was genuinely surprised by that, but no one in the world would put Bryce Young on the same level of Lamar or Dak.

There really are only a couple of teams that don't have fans that want to replace their QB.

Maybe you should have said that. You are here defending Bryce all the time. It reads like it reads.
I thought it was out of character but it definitely could have been meant exactly like I took it.
And there are people here that think that way. See it all the time.

I mean, as a fan of those players’ teams I could easily say those guys are way overpaid especially Dax, for the success he brings them. The Cowboys under achieve annually.

Lamar for all his ability, is hampering them financially and is now insinuating himself into coach firing and hiring. I can see why some people are turned off after years of regular season flash followed by playoff meh. Made it to one AFCCG but his numbers in the tournament are not very good.

I guess I am overall disillusioned with the current NFL model of teams paying these guys so much money and killing their flexibility to add pieces.

Dude, you are such a douche. I mean wow!

I live near Baltimore and date someone that lives there so I interact with their fans pretty often. You all are the only Panthers fans I ever get to talk to. And half of you are A holes. Yes, I mean you.

So me saying I know fans that want to get rid of Lamar and Dak should be interpreted as I think Bryce is as good as them? Okie dokie.

We had a number of fans here who couldn't wait to get Cam Newton out the door so I don't see it as being far fetched there are some Ravens fans that aren't enamored with Lamar Jackson. As it is Lamar has squarely placed the burden of the entire franchise on himself now with Harbaugh out as he receives minute by minute updates from the Ravens org about their head coaching search. Good luck with that.

    • As much as I despise Billy B, his philosophy on QBs is how I would approach things if I were a GM. You always keep looking for your next starter.  He has Bledsoe, who got injured and his backup ended up being the GOAT. Even while he had that going, he kept getting his next guy and developing them. When Brady got hurt, Cassel stepped in and went 11-5 and they missed the wild card by dumb luck. Who knows how far they would have gone if they had gotten in. Jimmy Gs career started in NE. There were others, but he always kept looking.  You can't be afraid to keep looking for your next starter, but it looks like we're afraid to look for more than a marginal one. If you're going to offer a $25m contract with incentives, that screams marginal QB. It also screams you're just a transition until we find our guy. After a 10 or 11 win season, he's not accepting that offer. And then you're in a Daniel Jones situation. Do you pay for a year of success and pray it wasn't a one year wonder?  To this point, Bryce has really produced nothing, yet for whatever reason, our FO has not even sniffed at the idea that we need a real QB room with real QBs. Dalton was never starter potential, Plummer was a joke. KP certainly isn't, neither is Grier.  Our approach to the QB room needs to be one of strength not fear. Bring in guys who can compete or who you think can compete. This is THE elite position, in an elite sport, paid premium salary, where production matters. Either you produce or you can lose your job. It's not mean, it's just the reality of the position.  And I'm really just tired of our candy ass approach to it.
    • If you plug Bryce onto the Pro Bowl roster you might have a chance to compete for a SB. If he's surrounded by top tier talent with a top tier defense on the other side, a field flipping punter, and a kicker good from 60+ you might have a chance. But that means you basically have to recreate Saban's Bama in the NFL and that's impossible... and Bryce couldn't win a championship in that environment either. What the Panthers didn't realize when they got so obsessed with his "PG mentality" was that what they were looking st was a "barely checks the box PG". The basketball equivalent of Bryce would be an undersized PG with marginal athleticism who can make the basic plays but adds nothing to the team in terms of elevating the overall team. Not a great shooter, not a great defender, not a great driver. Just a guy who can basically get you into the offense and be a matador on defense. Basically a placeholder while you look to upgrade the PG position.
