If Quinn blows it up tomorrow...

Only if they think he's worth the #1 off last year's game film (which is kind of hard to buy into).

Personally, I wouldn't.

I don't care if he is better than the best CB in NFL history, he gets torched without a pass rush. Action is always quicker than reaction.

Fix the DL before taking DB's

At this point it would be nice if someone would just step up and seperate themselves from the pack.

This!!! The biggest problem with this years draft for us is that for every player at the top there is another player at the same position who is nipping a their heels and could be had outside of the top five picks.

AJ Green/Julio Jones

Patrick petersen/Prince Amukamara

Nick Fairley/Marcell Dareus

Bowers/Quinn

For every guy you could make a case for number one overall you could easily make a case for trading back and picking the other guy. Kinda makes our pick much less valuable when teams know they have a second chance at all these guys.

Lol, I noticed the same thing, monstercat. If Fairley could get to 590 lbs and not lose his speed, then hell yea!

On a serious note, Dockett is an extreme rarity. Name another very good DT recently that was 290 or less. Not to mention Dockett plays a different defense than we do, he plays a lot more 3-4 than we supposedly will.

I'd rather have Dareus than Fairley, but neither with #1. Gimme BPA, Green (even though his 40 was a tad slow today) or Peterson at #1 if the QBs still don't look #1 worthy by then.

On that note, I've seen people say Julio Jones is catching up to Green in the WR rankings because he was .11 seconds faster. I say meh, Jones still has a slight case of the dropsies and Green has much better hands.

He could easily add 300 pounds, Darnell Dockett is under 300 if I'm not mistaken.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
