Former NFL Network’s Lindsey Rhodes on Carolina Panthers

Recommended Posts

13. Carolina is coming.

The Panthers are well thought of around the league. Their "process" seems sound.

I think their off-season will be very interesting to keep an eye on.

They made the playoffs, but they're not yet knocking on the door. (Offense was 26th in EPA/play.) I think it's imperative they don't overestimate where they are in their build. They can't throw a ton of money around in FA to "make a run now". They need to be intentional about building a solid foundation. (IMO)

And from what I know about the team... I think they will be.

Sidenote: I have my eye on offense there, not defense. They HAVE to leave next season with a strong opinion on Bryce Young. They need to put pieces around him to do that. Can't be left wondering what he would have looked like with "better OL play" or "more pass catchers". They have to know.

(That part is purely my opinion. No one told me that.)

This logic legitimately disgusts me. I could see if this were a QB who had more often than not flashed consistent top arm talent and had shown instances of taking over games but this is not that at all. It's time for the fourth year #1 pick to elevate the moving parts around him rather than need everything to not only go perfectly but those around him to make herculean efforts and the other team to implode to be successful.

No sir. Build a complete roster and focus on the defense primarily. Do what you can on offense without making all in moves to the detriment of the rest of the team as we have already done. The steep investment behind center either rises to the occasion or we go another direction.

Yeah, at this point we have the answer in Bryce IMO. He's  TON of help to ein games as an NFL QB. Pn a rookie contract, cool. You have the cap flexibility to pay for that help. But give a guy like that a franchise QB contract and you just tied a cap noose around your neck that he can't overcome unless you absolutely knock it out of the park every year in the draft.

as a panther fan knowinf the horrible decisioms they tend to make.  i am ecpecting any day them to announce long term qb contraxt with byoung paying him top ten qb money.

I love how the huddle just so convinced we gone find a franchise qb so fast if we let Bryce walk ? We gonna be right back in the cellar trying to start over again . Yeah let’s do that lol

The 2025 Panthers went to the playoffs with this behind center.

What can we do with a marginally better passer?

Well Bryce is getting his chance to be a marginally better passer. Nobody is coming to replace him. Though, I believe we need better than marginally.

What he is so far, is on the film and in the books.
And it isn’t good enough. I wonder if he thinks it is.

My problem is we are still trying to extrapolate his arc and at this point it has a low angle trajectory. Gradually improving. Not rapidly improving. Multiple crappy teams have taken QBs and had them blossom. In less time. They are all around us. I don’t know what you call what Bryce has done in that context.

I understand there are slow learners and late bloomers and they can turn it on, that’s fine if that’s him. But this has to be the year he makes his leap or we need to start with the contingencies.

That would be hard to take after all these years of excellence.

All i ask of him right now  is win, and get us to the playoffs . But playoffs is standard now for him and this team . If we regress yes move on . But if he have another season like he had this year and we make the playoffs sign him . Idc if it’s ugly i like winners .

Coming off a playoff season . Him and  the team is literally trending up what more can you ask for from a fairly young team and core . I understand he’s a number one pick, so he should look somewhat generational but he’s not . But if he wins idc about the stats
